Mohammad Hussain Farooqui is not a singer that is familiar to too many music lovers today. He worked as a playback singer in late 1940s in Hindi movies before disappearing into oblivion.
This blog so far contains three songs sung by Md Hussain Farooqui.
Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh had given the details about this little known singer in response to one of the earlier posts on this songer. Here is what Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh has to say about Md Hussain Farooqui:-
Mohd.Farooqi was born on 17-8-1915 at jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. He was keen on Music from childhood, but his religious Haji father was against it, as he wanted him to become a Teacher.
In 1945,Farooqi came to Bombay with a letter for Khemchand Prakash(originally from Rajasthan). He stayed in old khar with a friend. After an year KP called him to his house. When Farooqi went there, K.L.Saigal was also sitting there. KP asked him to sing a song. He sang Saigal’s ‘So ja rajkumari so ja’. Saigal was impressed and he was employed by Ranjeet Movietone on a princely monthly salary of 200 rupees.He got his first break with ‘Chcheen lo Azaadi-1947.His song ‘kamzoronki nahi hai duniya’ was popular with freedom fighters.
He sang 15 songs in 12 movies, all with Bulo.C Rani and Hansraj Behl only. His voice and style became very popular, but he had to return to Rajasthan to look after ailing father and his hugh property there. He never came back after 1950 and died on 8-2-1990 peacefully.
Here is a song sung by him. I have heard this song before and I thought that this song was already in the blog, but I was wrong. The lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt who also pointed out to me that 8th feruary is the death anniversary of this forgotten singer.
So on this occasion, here is this nice philosophical song sung by Md Hussain Farooqui. This song is the title cum theme song of “Duniya Ek Saraai” (1947). Kidar Sharma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
PS-I thank all the readers who contributed in suggesting the missing words in the originally posted lyrics. The weaver weaves a delicate cloth

But the cloth gets used as a burial garment
Notes:
1. ‘honi’ = destiny, fate.
2. The reference to ‘kabira’ in this verse is as a weaver. As per history, Kabir Das was born in a family of weavers, and he continued the ancestral occupation all his life. Many of his bhajans are created around the theme of weaving. He has frequently used the metaphor of ‘chaadar’ (a sheet of cloth) and ‘chunari’ (a piece of fine cloth that ladies use as head cover) in his verses, to represent the human form and human existence. And since then, this metaphor has been used by many poets who came after him. Readily comes to mind, the song from ‘Dil Hi To Hai’ (1963) – “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag Chhupaa’un Kaise” .

This (human) form is an untruth
This world, this existence is an illusion
What for you feel pleased?
What for you feel pompous?
This world, your relatives
Will burn this beautiful form
As soon as it is bereft of life
(NOTE: ‘pinjara’ is another metaphor used for the human body. In poetical terms, the soul that resides in this body, is referred to as a bird. When the life leaves this body, the metaphor used is that the ‘bird has flown’. The poet says that this body which you feel so pleased about, your own people will burn it, as soon they see that life is gone from it.)

When I heard this song for the first time, I could not believe the quality of voice/depth your Father had! Maine shayad 15-20 dafa yeh gana suna hoga before I sent lyrics to Atulji. Let me confess one thing that I was not aware of your Father, but after this “introductory song”, I did listen to all his songs available on You Tube. Another song that I love is “iss khaak ke putle ko ae bhagwaan bana ke…..dhoka kiya insaan se insaan bana ke”. As you have said, he is with us by his immortal voice.

As per the article on your father by Surjit Singh ji on his site,the total songs are only 15.Phir ye 16 kahan se aaye ?
In that article,songs were provided by you only.
He sang for 12 films and 15 songs,is my info.

Can you help me find those missing words with ??? in the song?
“??? uda pinjare se duniya
pinjara dekh jalaaye”
The meaning of this lines sounds like- bird (panchhi), meaning atma, soul has left the pinjara, meaning the body and now people are just burning his body. I couldn’t get the word in this lines.
