Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Tujhe apne paas bulaati hai teri duniya

Posted on: May 9, 2012

“Patita” (1953) was a Mars and Movies Production. The movie was directed by Amiya Majumdar. The movie had Dev Anand, Usha Kiran, Krishnakant, Lalita Pawar, Chandrashekhar, Agha, Shivraj etc.

The movie had some nice songs in it and a few of these songs have gone on to become immortal as well, such as songs like Andhe jahaan ke andhe raaste jaayen to jaayen kahaan , Hain sabse madhur wo geet , Kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko , and Yaad kiya dil ne kahaan ho tum are from this movie.

As many as five songs from this movie have already been discussed and only one more song from this movie remains to be discussed. This remaining song is “Tujhe apne paas bulaati hai teri duniya”. This song is sung by Talat Mehmood and this song appears in the movie twice, and the lyrics are identical on both occasions.

Shailendra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

On the occasion of Talat Mehmood’s death anniversary (9 may), here is this song from “Patita” (1953) as a tribute to Talat Mehmood from this blog. The song is picturised on Agha (it looks like Agha to me, but I could be wrong) and Usha Kiran.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Mr. Sadanand Kamath.

Song-Tujhe apne paas bulaati hai teri duniya (Patita)(1953) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by Sadanand Kamath)

tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa aa aa aa
kab se baanhen phailaati hai
teri duniyaa haan haan haan
tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa

sapne bhi yahaan benoor hain
jo hain tere wo tujhse door hain
is duniyaa mein teraa kaun hai
is duniyaa mein teraa kaun hai
ye soch ke ghabraa jaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa
tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa

nazron se giraa denge sabhi
do din mein bhoolaa denge sabhi
barsenge na baadal dhool ke
barsenge na baadal dhool ke
ro ro ke yahi samajhaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa
tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa

wahaan chhote bade sab ek se
nahin koyi jo tere dukh pe hanse
wahaan rishte na honge jhooth ke
wahaan rishte na honge jhooth ke
sabko seene se lagaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa
tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa
kab se baanhen phailaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa
tujhe apne paas bulaati hai
teri duniyaa
aa aa aa

You’re right Atul-ji! It is Agha. He was such a versatile actor.

There might be a sad version of this song.

There is no sad version of this song, either in the film,or on a record.

Actually in the above Youtube link for the song itself, it can be seen that the same song was repeated TWICE in the movie, describing the happy and sad situations. “Sad version” starts around 3:07 time frame. Both versions are around 3 minutes, hence the total time is ~6mins for this particular Youtube video which seems to be made by joining both. It might be the same audio, but videos are different.

This song appears twice in the movie – first during the first half when Agha takes the mother (Usha Kiran) and the child to an orphanage and second time during the second half of the movie when Agha leaves Dev Anand’s house (where both the mother and the child are given shelter by him ) for his hutment which he calls his ‘Masti Mahal’.
As Arun has said, there is no sad version of the song. But there is no happy version either. The song of the same version is played twice in the movie.

Kamath ji,
You saved my explanation, just in time.
Usually,SAD versions are those where the situation is very serious or there is a painful separation or the singing actors are separated by fate etc.
In this case there was no such situation. The song was played twice in the film, thats all.But this happens in many films,if you recollect.

I mentioned VERY CLEARLY in my comment that it might be same audio, but its different video with happy and sad situations. May be its different for others, but I tend to remember songs by visuals. And to me, in the first version, Agha seems to be running around looking happy and in the other he could be seen very down and sad, and thats how I distinguish happy and sad versions. You can disagree on the fact that there are no “happy and sad versions of the song”, but its a fact that there are “happy and sad versions of the video”. Regards.

And yes, usually in many movies, a same song is repeated multiple times, but in those cases what happens is, the situation in the movie tends to remain the same, that is, if its same “happy or sad song”, all multiple visuals also remain “happy or sad” accordingly. They would create “different version of the song” as u call it, to create “happy” and “sad” visuals. What is interesting about this song is that, its the SAME audio, creating both “happy” and “sad” visuals, which to my knowledge, doesnt happen that often.

Bluefire ji,
I understood what you meant by ‘Same Audio,Diff Video’.
In any case since the above was a combined video, there is no need for searching one more song. Thus all the songs of Patita are now posted.
