Apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai

on:“Subah Ka Taara” (1954) was a Rajkamal Pictures production. It was produced and directed by V Shantaram. The movie had V Shantaram,Pradeep Kumar, Jayshree, Rajshree, Amirbai Karnataki, Shakuntala, Neelam, Nimbalkar, Naaz, Chhagan, Romeo etc in it.
I thought that I had discussed several songs from this movie in the past. I am surprised to know that only one song from this movie has been discussed in the blog so far, and that song is the well known title song from this movie, viz. Gayaa andheraa huaa ujaaraa chamka chamka Subah Kaa Taaraa .
Here is another song from the movie. This melancholic song is sung by Talat Mehmood. Only the audio of this song is available, but based on the picturisation of the title song, one can guess that this song is picturised on Pradeep Kumar.
Noor Lucknowi is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.
Song-Apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai (Subah Ka Taara)(1954) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Noor Lucknowi, MD-C Ramchandra
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai
ho unhen raahat mujhe aaraam hai
dil hamaara aur nahin kuchh ikhtiyaar
dil hamaara aur nahin kuchh ikhtiyaar
haay majboori isi ka naam hai
haay majboori isi ka naam hai
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai
dil ki uljhan mein pata chalta nahin
dil ki uljhan mein pata chalta nahin
hum kahaan hatn
subah hai ya shaam hai
hum kahaan hain
subah hai ya shaam hai
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai
hum tadapte hain
nahin unko khabar
hum tadapte hain
nahin unko khabar
kya muhabbat ka yahin anjaam hai
kya muhabbat ka yahin anjaam hai
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai
apni naakaami se mujhko kaam hai

Thanks Khyati for reminding me this beautiful ghazal. Like Mani Menon said, I had also heard this song in my younger days without knowing that it was from ‘Subah Ka Tara’.

A video clip has been uploaded on YouTube at https://youtu.be/hRO4NQmf5gk showing a despondent Pradeep Kumar running helter-skelter with this song playing in the background. Not sure if it is really from Subah Ka Tara or lifted from some other movie.

I don’t know how to thank you, Atul~ji! I used to hum this song quite often, without realising it’s from ‘Subah ka Tara’!
By the way, there’s this song, “Bhabhi aaayi…” presumably sung by ‘Baby’ Rajshree in the movie. She was Jayshree’s daughter. It’s a delightful song…..

You have to thank Khyati ji for sending me the lyrics of this song.
As mentioned in the write up, I thought that several songs from this movie were already discussed, including “Bhaabhi Aayi”, but it turns out that I was wrong.

Yes, Atul ji, few songs need to be posted are – Bhabhi Aayi, Do haklon ka suno fasaana, Kismat ne humko zulm uthana sikha diya. This Talat song is my husband’s fav, so got the priority. Hope you won’t mind.
