Tum meri zindagi mein kuchh is tarah se aaye

Posted on: August 6, 2012

“Bombay To Goa” (1972) was a Mehmood Productions movie. It was produced by N C Sippy and directed by S Ramnathan. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Aruna Irani, Mehmood, Shatrughan Sinha, Lalita Pawar, Manorama, Anwar Ali, Nazir Hussain, Kishore Kumar, Dulari, Mukri, Keshto Mukherjee, Sunder, Asit Sen, Agha, Manmohan, Dilip Dutt, Indira Bansal, Usha Iyer aka Usha Uthup, Babban, Kammo, Birbal, Randhir, Raj Kishore, Jerry, Darshan, Praveen Paul, Shobha, Oscar Unger, Junior Mehmood etc in it.

I have discussed three songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from this movie. This song is a duet which is sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar. Personally I have never heard this song before.Prakashchandra, who sent me the lyrics of this song has heard this song, but he has never seen the picturisation of this song so he guesses that this song was deleted from the movie.

The song is written by Rajinder Krishan. Music is composed by R D Burman.

I have heard this song for the first time only just now, and the song is growing upon me. This could well have been an extremely popular song, if only this song was included in the movie, I feel. Nevertheless, it is better late than never. We should count ourselves lucky that at least the audio of this wonderful song is available for our listening pleasure.

Song-Tum meri zindagi mein kuchh is tarah se aaye (Bombay To Goa)(1972) Singers-Lata, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

hmm hmm
hmmm hmmmm hmmm
hmmm mmmm hmmm hmm hmm
tum meri zindagi mein
kuchch iss tarah se aaye
bhoolaa saa khwaab jaise
sach hoke muskuraaye

ho o o o
tum meri zindagi mein
ho ho
kuchch iss tarahase aaye
ho o o o
bhulaa saa khwaab jaise

ho o
sach hoke muskuraaye

bhooli bisri
kitni yaadein
aaj galey
milne aayee hain
anjaane baagon se
chunkar
kaliyaan daaman mein
laayee hain
itne suhaane
safar ki kabhie
manzil na aane paaaye

o o o
tum meri zindagi mein
hmmmhmmm
kuchch iss tarhaa se aaye
o o o
bhoolaa saa khwaab jaise

hmhmm
sach hoke muskuraaye

rukti badhti
dil ki dhadkan
kehti hai
kitne afsaane
dil ke saagar
kitne gehre
dil hi samjhe
dil hi jaane

aaye samajh mein
ye raaz tab
jab umr beet jaaye
ho o o
tum meri zindagi mein
ho o
kuch iss tarhaa se aaye
ho o o
bhulaa saa khwaab jaise

ho o o
sach hoke muskuraaye

This melody is based on the theme tune of Limelight. Guru Dutt asked RDB to compose a song based on this tune for his film Raaz (which was to be based on Wilkie Collins’ The Lady in White, which was later made as Woh Kaun Thi). The song was even recorded with Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar. Since Raaz got scrapped and the music was not released RDB used it for this song in Bombay to Goa. As luck should have it, the song was not used in the film. The song was remodelled as main jo chala pikar in Mukti.

Thanks for this interesting information. Were the records of Geeta Dutt-Hemant Kumar duet made ? If so, this song would be a collector’s item.

The duet was reportedly recorded and lies most probably somewhere in Guru Dutt Films offices.

This song was in the film very much when it was released, but for reasons best known to the producers,it was removed within a week’s time.

RDB seems to have used this tune again. A movie called “Libaas” starrig Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah, was never released. It has Gulzar’s lyrics. This song was picturized,I recall seeing it on BBC. Shabana Azmi and Naseerudding on a motor boat, with shabana singing the song.

I think I have seen this “Libaas” song picturised on Motor boat-Shabana Azmi lip syncing this song.In the picturisation of the song, with her Co-star is not Naseeruddin Shah, But it is
Raj Babbar(Playing a rich, successful industrialist`s role).I have seen this unreleased full movie in International film festival held at Bangalore(in 1991 or 1992)
(Shabana Azmi bored with her lover/husband`s(Naseeruddin in a middle class Drama Director`s role) middle class standard of living, starts an affair with rich Industrialist played by Raj Babbar and I think she even marries Raj Babbar. This movie was very good and directed by Gulzar. I may be wrong in giving exact story details of this movie,as I have seen this movie long long ago. But this song was picturised on Shabana Azmi and Raj Babbar.

All the songs of this movie are very very good:written by Gulzar
Khamosh sa afsaana(Lata,Suresh Wadkar)
Phir kisi shaakh ne phenki chhaanv(Lata)
Sili hawaa choo gayee, sila badan chchil gayaa(Lata)
kya bura hai kya bhalaa ho sake toh jalaa(R.D.burman,Lata)
