Dilli hai dil Hindustan ka
Posted on: August 15, 2012
Today (15 august 2012) is the 65th Independence day of India.
The main function on this day is held in New Delhi at the Red Fort (Laal Qila) from where the Prime Minister addresses the nation. The eyes of the nation are glued to New Delhi on the occasion through TV, Radio, etc.
Even otherwise Delhi is the heart of the nation and this has been the case for several centuries.
On this occasion, here is a Children’s patriotic song which expresses this sentiment that “Dilli hai dil Hindustan ka” (viz Delhi is the heart of India).
The song is sung by Mukesh, Lata and chorus. It is picturised on Rajendra Kumar, Mala Sinha and several kids playing school children.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.

Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
kehne ko chhota sa ik naam hai ye
socho to is ke hain matlab hazaar
kehne ko chhota sa ik naam hai ye
socho to is ke hain matlab hazaar
dil se bana hai Dilli jabhi to
karta hai dil se sabhi ko yeh pyaar
dil se bana hai Dilli jabhi to
karta hai dil se sabhi ko ye pyaar
pyaara hai Roos, Ingalistaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
bikhra hai itihaas galiyon mein is ki
sadiyon ke baaqi yahaan par nishaan
bikhara hai itihaas galiyon mein is ki
sadiyon ke baaqi yahaan par nishaan
hogi kashish kuchh maati mein is ki
Baapu ne tyaage yahin par jo praan
hogi kashish kuchh maati mein is ki
Baapu ne tyaage yahin par jo praan
kya kehna is ki shaan ka
ye to tirath hai saare jahaan ka
dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
charcha hai is ka saare jahaan mein
beshaq yahi to hai Bhaarat ka taaj
charcha hai is ka saare jahaan mein
beshaq yahi to hai Bhaarat ka taaj
shobha hai is taaj ki vo jawaahar
jis ka hamaare dilon par hai raaj
shobha hai is taaj ki vo jawaahar
jis ka hamaare dilon pe hai raaj
rakshak wo Bhaarat ki aan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil Hindustaan ka
ye to teerath hai saare jahaan ka
Dilli hai dil hindustaan ka

I just stumbled upon this link concerning Rafisaab Anniv. Please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-r9aog5qH4
You will find him singing in English and some other foreign language. Is it Hebrew or Iranian. Please enlighten us if any of us is a linguist. Listen to one stanza from Baiju Bawra; like a thoroughbred classical singer he has sung the same line in different styles. Unlike other singers (except Manna Dey) he had thorough classical training. Enjoy. Happy Independence Day to all of you. Thanks
