Today (6 september) is the birth anniversary of Yash Johar (6 september 1929- 26 june 2004). His real name was Anand Raj Johar. He worked in Ajanta Arts (Sunil Dutt’s banner) and later Navketan (Dev Anand’s banner), before he established his own production house called Dharma Productions in 1976.
The debut movie of Dharma Productions was “Dostana”” (1980). It was directed by Raj Khosla and it had Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in lead roles. This movie proved to be a big success at the box office and with that the production house was launched with a bang.
Subsequently, Dharma Productions produced movie like Agneepath (1990), Hum(1991), Gumrah(1993) and Duplicate(1998). In 1998, Yash Johar’s son, Karan Johar directed “Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai” under the banner of Dharma Productions and the movie turned out to be a blockbuster. It was followed by movies like “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” (2001) and “Kal Ho Na Ho””(2003).
On the occasion of Yash Johar’s birth anniversary, here is a song from “Dostana”(1980). This song is a duet which is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
The song is picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman.
