This is the only song missing from Kinara (1977) on this blog. The song is in flashback, when Aarti (Hema Malini) remembers her fiancé (Dharmendra) and their times together. He has died in a car accident.
It is much of a recitation rather than song. When the lyrics say, chitthi hai yaa kavitaa? (is it a letter or a poem?). I feel like saying it is much more of a letter. Nevertheless, it is one of the most romantic and sensual song in the annals of Hindi cinema for me. The sensuality of this song is enhanced by fact that one feels like a voyeur of a deeply private conversation.

Beautiful post Harvey ji. i do not remember this song from the film now, as others were more popular.

in the fourth line “toone saadi mein uddas li hai’, i think it should be ” toone saadi mein ulajh li hai”.
Thanks for this one from Bhupinder Singh, who has given us some memorable songs to cherish forever.
