“Samrat Chandragupta” (1958) was directed by Babubhai Mistry for Mukti Films Production. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Nirupa Roy, Lalita Pawar, B. M. Vyas, Ullhas, Anwar Hussein, Krishna Kumari, Samra Roy, Dalpat etc in it.
Seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eighth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata and chorus. Indeewar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji.
The song is picturised as a dance song in the Raj darbaar of king of Magadh. The king of Magadh is busy watching this naach gaana even as the army of Chandragupta attacks Magadh.
I am unable to identify the dancer lip syncing in Lata’s voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
