The previous song posted in the blog was from a movie called “Doctor”(1941). With Doctor there, how can nurse be far behind. Here is a song from “Nurse” (1943). 🙂

“Nurse” (1943) is by now a forgotten movie and little information is available about this movie. I had discussed one song from this movie the last year and then our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh shared valuable information about this movie in detail. Here is what he has to say about this movie:

NURSE-1943 was a Ranjit Movietone film, directed by its regular Director,Chaturbhuj Doshi. The Music Director was Gyan Dutt and the Lyricist was D N Madhok. The cast was Khurshid, Arunkumar Ahuja, Prabha, Sheikh, Indira etc.

It was a love story of misplaced love and the lover’s onesided sacrifice.

Deepak(Arun kumar) the only son of wealthy Seth Gopichand was married and had a son also. His hobby was writing Poetry. He always regretted that his wife Usha(Prabha) did not take any interest in his Poetry. Once, while on a business trip, he meets Kiran(Khurshid) who loves his poetry. Kiran is engaged to Raman. Kiran and Deepak enjoy each others company and fall in love, without knowing that Deepak is married and kiran is engaged.

Kiran’s father is forcing her to get married so Kiran runs away from house to Deepak. There she learns the bitter truth. Being ashamed, she can not go back to father, so she becomes a Nurse.

One day Deepak’s son is admitted in her hospital and she gets friendly with the mother Usha, without knowing that she is Deepak’s wife. On the other hand Deepak also gets friendly with Raman without knowing that he is engaged to Kiran.

One day they all meet at a time and truth dawns on all of them. Kiran decides to go back to her life and meets father telling him that she is ready for marriage. Deepak comes to her. She reprimands him and sends back. Kiran and Raman get married.

Here is a song from this movie which is just as obscure as the movie itself. in fact this song was not there on YT till I decided to discuss this song in the blog.

This song is sung by Rajkumari. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt. Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to say how and on whom this song is picturised.

I have not been able to get the lyrics right to my satisfaction in the last stanza of the song. I request our readers with keener ears to tell us about the missing/ correct words in the lyrics.

This is a nice forgotten gem from the past and it gives me great satisfaction to present this song here in the blog.

Song-Wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke(Nurse)(1943) Singer-Rajkumari, Lyrics-D N Madhok, MD-Gyan Dutt

Lyrics

wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
main mar gayi
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
main mar gayi
haay haay haay re
tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
main mar gayi
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
main mar gayi
haay haay haay re
tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke

birhaa kyaa hai ab ham jaane
ae ae ae ae
birhaa kyaa hai ab ham jaane
chain pade na kisi bahaane
chain pade na kisi bahaane
haay haay haay re
ab din aa gaye re
aa gaye mushkil ke
ab din aa gaye re
aa gaye mushkil ke
tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke
tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke,
main mar gayi
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke,
main mar gayi
haay haay haay re
tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke tukde
ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke

kar ke khet tihaare(?) paa ke
ae ae ae ae
kar ke khet tihaare(?) paa ke
baith gaye wo tumke(?) sajaa ke
baith gaye wo tumke(?) sajaa ke
haay haay haay re
kaliyaan
hampe re hansti hain khil khil ke
kaliyaan
hampe re hansti hain khil khil ke
tukde ho gaye re
ho gaye mere dil ke tukde
ho gaye re ho gaye mere dil ke
wo gaye nahin hamen mil ke

A delicate breakup, very beautiful sweet thumri, It’s a light semi-classical thumri. Each words has the echo of an aching longing of the heart. All the words, music and soothing voice come together as a powerful.dearly held memories of the love, confusion and inner turmoil.
