“Sanyaasi” (1945) was produced and directed by A K Kardar. The movie had Ghulam Mohammad (actor- different from the music director), Shamim Bano, Amar, Shyam Kumar etc in it.
Three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the fourth song from this movie. This song is sung by Zohrabai Ambalewaali and Amar. Pt Madhur is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad.
Only the audio of this song is available. My guess is that the song was picturised on the lead pair of the movie, viz. Shamim Bano and Amar.
The songs of this movie, including this song sound surprisingly “modern” by the standards of 1945. The explanation for this could be that the music of “Rattan” (1944) was already relesaed by that which had redefined the road map for the future course of HFM and that could be the reason for the rather modern sounding songs of this movie.
It is said that Naushad introduced folk music of UP in his songs of “Rattan” (1944) that revolutionised the way Hindi movie songs began to be created. Going by this song of “Sanyasi” (1945), it would seem that Naushad did not confine himself to folk music of just UP, but looked elsewhere as well. The music of this song sounds so much like Gujarati folk music to me. If my guess is correct, then this music be the first instance of Gujarati folk music being used in Hindi movie songs.
This song also reminds me of the “Chori Chori” (1956) song “Aaja sanam madhur chaandni me hum(Chori Chori)” and in facts sound like a fore runner to the iconic “Chori Chori” (1956) song.
