So another reminder for another request from AK ji. This song is from a relatively lesser known film by the name ‘Amar Jyoti’ from 1965. I say relatively, in comparison to the better known film by the same name from 1936.
The film is produced under the banner of Bombay Movietone and is directed by Raman Desai. The cast of actors includes L Vijaylakshmi, Mahipal, Ulhas, Kamal Mehra, Sapru, Sarla Devi, and Gopikrishan amongst others. There are nine songs in this film. The lyrics come from the pen of Bharat Vyas and the music is composed by Vasant Desai. The singing voice is that of Lata Mangeshkar.
The film has already made a debut on this blog, with one song posted. This is the second song to be posted here. The earlier song, “Kalpana Ke Ghan Baraste” , was posted by Sadanand ji, with an excellent write up on the music director Vasant Desai.
As for the film itself, I am not able to locate more information than is available in the Geet Kosh. I request other knowledgeable readers and friends to please add more information about this film and its songs.
The song is a sad song of unfulfilled love. The notes in the melody and the tone of singing are very expressive to convey this sadness, and the sense of separation.
