“Devta”(1978) was a remake of the Tamil Movie “Gnana Oli”(1972) directed by P. Madhavan, written by Vietnam Veedu Sundaram and starring Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role.
“Devta” (1978) was produced by N N Sippy and directed by S Ramnathan for Prithvi Pictures. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Shabana Azmi, Benjamin Gilani, Danny Denzongpa, Sarika, Asit Sen, Babbanlal Yadav, Rakesh Roshan, Dr.Sree Ram Lagoo, Shivraj,Azad, Viju Khote, Major Anand, Vijay Kumar, Hyder, Shubha Khote, Dhumal, Keshto Mukherjee, Datta Keshav, Sheetal, Makarnai aka Makrani, Debie Prasad, Taj, Master Sandeep, Prakash, Taj, T.S.Rana etc in it.
Today (18 september 2014) is the birth anniversary of Shabana Azmi. On this occasion, here is the fourth and final song from “Devta” (1978) to appear in the blog.
This song is sung by Lata. It is picturised as a rain song on Shabana Azmi and Benjamin Gilani. Gulzar is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.

Another melody of Gulzar + RDB. To tell you the truth, I love this one more than the popular piece Chaand churaake laaya hoon….. Just my personal choice.

Atul ji congratulations! YIPPEEEE! Devta (1978) joins the ranks of movies that have all its songs discussed on the blog. This is the first time I am hearing this movie. Will listen to the 4 songs and YIPPEEEE! it tonight :). Looking forward to more YIPPEEEE! moments in the coming days :).
