“Bandhe Haath”(1973) was produced by O P Ralhan and directed by O P Goyle. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Mumtaz, Ajit, Anjana Mumtaz, Kumud Chugani, Ram Mohan, Sardar Akhtar, O.P.Ralhan, Madan Puri, Ranjeet, Gajanan Jagirdar, Asit Sen, Tuntun, Baldev Mehta, Pinchoo Kapoor, Kamal Deep, Moolchand, Sikandar, Gaurang, Maqbool, Usha Amershi, Vanita Thakur etc in it.
Here is the first song from “Bandhe Haath”(1973) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
The picturisation shows that it is a stage song. Amitabh Bachchan stands behind the microphone on stage and sings this song. The occasion is a women’s organisation function. Kumud Chugani (who looks so much like Twinkle Khanna) is seated on the stage alongwith some other dignitaries. The hall on such occasions is always houseful, and this song is no exception. Actors playing significant roles in the movie always sit on the front row. Here we find Ranjeet seated on the front row and whispering conspiratorially to one of his fellow conspirer.
Mumtaz is also visible temporarity in the picturisation when Amitabh Bachchan imagines himself to be with her before he is quickly brought back to reality.

kyaa jaano
main hoon kaun
maaraa huaa zindagi kaa
mujhko to
mehfil mein
laayaa hai pyaar kisi kaa aaa
kyaa jaano
main hoon kaun
maaraa huaa zindagi kaa
mujhko to
mehfil mein
laayaa hai pyaar kisi kaa aa
lag ke galey se
phir bhi machal na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath
kaisey miloon tumse
chaahoon to mil na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath
murjhaaye
gul ke paas
jaisey bahaar ki baahein aen
mere paas
waisey hi
phaili hain yaar ki baahein aen
murjhaaye
gul ke paas
jaisey bahaar ki baahein aen
mere paas
waissey hi
phaili hain yaar ki baahein aen
thaam ke inn ko
phir bhi sambhal na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath
kaissey miloon tumse
chaahoon to mil na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath
seene mein
dil meraa
kehne ko pyaar kaa dil hai
dhadke na
khulke jo
woh beqaraar saa dil hai ae ae
seene mein
dil meraa
kehne ko pyaar kaa dil hai
dhadke na
khulke jo
woh beqaraar saa dil hai
jaltaa hoon lekin
pehloo badal na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath
kaisey miloon tumse
chaahoon to mil na sakoon main
dekho
ye mere bandhe haath
ye mere bandhe haath

I may be wrong, But I get a strange feeling(that`s too remote, somewhere in between anthraa of this Bandhe haath song) that this Pancham tune has got shades of Anu Malik`s popular Begaana(1986) Kishore sad solo song “Matlabi hai log yahaan par, matlabhi zamana”
If I am wrong,Please Don`t scold me folks 🙂
