Some of the songs mentioned in HFGK for film ‘Do Boond Paani’ (1971) as separate songs, but have been combined in ASAD. Also, I could not find audio or video of the remaining two songs. So I go to the next Film ‘Ek Thi Reeta’, also from 1971.
Produced by ‘International Films, Bombay’ (it was still ‘Bombay’ then) and directed by Roop K Shorey, the film had Tanuja and Vinod Mehra as the lead pair. The supporting cast includes Rehman, IS Johar, Manmohan Krishan, Daisy Irani, Lalita Chaterjee, Devika, Madhavi and Majnu. Fariyal makes an appearance as a guest artist. The film boasts of two new finds as Pampi and Mona Malik.
Jaidev is the music director, assisted by Gyan Varma. The eleven songs of this film are shared by five lyricists, viz. Sarshar Sailani, Prem Jalandhari, Vikal Saaketi, Anjaan and the very well known ‘Naqsh’ Layallpuri.
Four songs out of eleven have been already discussed on this blog. Today’s song is the fifth one, a duet sung by a lesser known Sarla Kapoor, in accompaniment of the well known Manna Dey. The lyrics of this song are influenced by Bhojpuri dialect, and are written by Vikal Saaketi. The tune is based on the folk songs of UP and I personally do not see much ‘Jaidev jaadu’ in this duet, except for the interlude orchestra consisting mainly of sitar and flute.

Sudhir Ji,The song is definitely having the ‘Jaidev’ touch…..Heard for the first time and liked it.My compliments!!
There was one Sarla Devi who was Asstt to music director B S Kalla in film Do Dulhe(1955).She sang one chorus also with Geeta Dutt and Rafi in Do Dulhe-Mera Dulha Sheher Se Aaya Re……Are Sarla Kapoor and Sarla Devi the same person?

Jaidev touch ke baare me maine ‘I did not find any’ likha tha,
I have rearly no idea about Sarla Devi and Sarla Kapur. This subject is the forte of research associates like Arunbhai, Sadanandbhai etc. (Naari sanman ka prakhar follower hun isi liye dono Sarlaji ko DEVI maanta hun.)
