“Chor Baazaar”(1954) was produced and directed by P N Arora for All India Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Sumitra Devi, Shammi Kapoor, Chitra, Kammo, Amar, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Shameem, Ram Avtar, Cuckoo, S M Abbas, Parasram, Munshi Munaqqa, Jagdish Kanwal, Sheetal, Om Prakash etc with Wasti, Randhir and Shashikala as guest artists.
Five songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth and final song from the movie to appear in the blog.
This song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sardar Malik.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this melancholic song.
With this song, “Chor Baazaar”(1954) joins the list of movies with all their songs covered in the blog.
PS- HFGK mentions that this song was originally created for “Chor Baazaar”(1954). It was excluded from that movie and it was utilised in “Hoor e Arab”(1955). So it is the same song.

Atul ji,
My view is that if the song was originally composed by Sardar Malik for ‘Chor Baazaar’ (1954) but got included in ‘Hoor-e-Arab’ (1955), the song should belong only to ‘Hoor-e-Arab’ (1955) and not to ‘Chor Baazaar’ (1954). This is in keeping with a similar situation wherein the song ‘beeta huwa ek saawan’ was composed for ‘Shokhiyaan; (1951) by Jamal Sen but was later utilised for ‘Pehla Kadam’ (1980) and included only for the latter film.
One more point. When the song was composed by Sardar Malik, the credit should have legitimately gone to him in ‘Hoor-e-Arab’ and not to Ghulam Mohammed. In case of ‘beeta huwa ek saawan’, Jamal Sen got the credit for this song in ‘Pehla Kadam’ (1980).

This is Lata in Hoor-e-Arab (1955) singing Shakeel Badayuni’s composition under Ghulam Mohammed’s baton. There seems to confusion as to the cast on the various Internet sources.
