“Devdaasi”(1945) was directed by C S Bose for New Maharashtra Production, Bombay. This movie had Prithviraj Kapoor, Monika Desai, K C Dey, Vikram Kapoor, Suman, Kamla, Dar Kashmiri (Jeewan), G L Vaid, Arbind Sen, Prasann Kumar, Ashbela, Muma Tagore, Dubey etc in it.
This forgotten movie had eleven songs that have become just as obscure as the movie itself.
Here is the first song from “Devdaasi”(1945) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by K C Dey and Putul Chatterji. Narottam Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by K C Dey.
Only the audio of this song is available. Seeing that K C Dey figured in the movie, my guess is that this song was picturised on K C Dey and a lady singing this song as street mendicants. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
I have not been able to get a few words right to my satisfaction. I request our readers with keener ears to suggest corrections wherever applicable.
