“Narad Muni”(1949) was directed by Raman B Desai for Diljit Chitra Bombay. The movie had Babu Raje, Latabai, Poornima, Devendra, Urmila, Kusum Thakkar, Kalpana Kumari, Shanti Madhok, Chandrika, Indumati, Shobha Thakur, Kamlakant, Suryakant, Amodiya, Kamlesh Thakar, Bharat Kumar, Popat Lal, Chunnilal Nayak, Pinakin Shah, Manjibhai, Lajendra, Sonigra, Bhupatrai Ojha, Vithal Pandya, Sitaram Sharma etc. This extremely obscure mythological movie had nine eqaully obscure songs in it.
Here is the first song from “Narad Muni”(1949) to appear in the blog. This song is sung as well as composed by Bulo C Rani. Pt Indra Chandra is the lyricist.
Only the audio of this song is available. My guess is that this song is picturised on the lead character playing Narad Muni while strumming on his Veena. To those who have not read “Chandamama” and other such magazines, Narad Muni was the divine messenger of the gods who would visit people and tell them what was happening elsewhere. Some uncharitable people regard him as backbiter of the gods, ably played by Jeewan in quite a few mythological movies of those days. Others feel that he was into news services with his NBC (Narad Broadcasting Company). 🙂
It must be said that Bulo C Rani’s voice sounds quite appropriate for the character of Narad Muni. 🙂
I have not been able to get a few words right in this song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable in the lyrics.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song. With this song, “Narad Muni”(1949) makes its debut in the blog.

Out 17(may be more) only 7 songs he has sung in his direction. Rest by others. The others loved his voice more than himself

Unlike Shekharbhai, I like Bulo’s voice. He has depth and baas in his voice suitable for the character, he is singing for, as mentioned by Atulbhai. He provides a change from monotony of hearing Bhajans in Rafi or Manna’s voices.

Without meaning any insult to Bulo C. Rani, I wish he had used a Rafi or a Manna De to do greater justice to the excellent lyrics and music in this number.
