‘Nirmohi’, from 1952 is a film produced by Shriram Sharma, and directed by Baij Sharma for the banner of Sheetal Movies, Bombay. The cast of actors in this social drama includes Nutan, Sajjan, Raj Mehra, Leela Misra, Chaman Puri, Neeru, Amarnath, CL Kavish, Neeru, Kanchan etc. amongst others. The eight songs in this film are shared between Uddhav Kumar, Indeevar and PN Rangeen, as far as song writing is concerned. Music is by Madan Mohan. This particular song is from the pen of Indeevar. The singing voices are those of Kavita and Lalit Mohan.
Now, both the singer names are unfamiliar. As I scan the Geet Kosh for these names, I find that the name Lalit Mohan appears only in two songs in this film, and nowhere else. In case of Kavita, her name appears in just three films, one from 1948 and two from 1952; and then nothing else. The other song from this film that has the voice of Lalit Mohan, is already posted on our blog – “Aisi Chot Jiyaa Ne Khaai”. I request our readers and friends to please add more information if available, about these singers.
No other information is available about this film. Again, a request for readers to add more information if available.
If we review the status of the artists, when this film was released, we find that most of them are in the infancy of their careers. Madan Mohan had made his debut as a music director in 1950 (‘Aankhen’). The same can be said about Nutan, her first film was ‘Hamaari Beti’ (1950). Sajjan had started his career in early 1940s, in Calcutta, doing bit roles and working as assistant to directors. Like many other artists, he also moved to Bombay in the mid 1940s. Here he gravitated towards Prithvi Theatres, and from that platform he came on to cinema screen. For him too, his first significant role, opposite to Nalini Jaiwant, was in the film ‘Muqaddar’ in 1950.
Indeevar, the songwriter appeared on the scene in 1946, when he wrote the lyrics for films like ‘Black Market’ and ‘Double Face’. As per Geet Kosh records, these are the earliest films where we find his name appearing.
As far as the availability of songs is concerned, luckily the audio version of all the eight songs is available. Seven of these are already posted on our blog. Today, I bring online the eighth and final song of this film, which probably has been sidelined because the singer names are unfamiliar. As I listened to this song while preparing this post, I am surprised, because the song and its rendition are quite delightful. It is peppy number that tells about first love. The music is engaging, and the song deserves more attention than it apparently has received.
And so, with this post, the film ‘Nirmohi’ now joins the rank of ‘Yippeee films on our blog.
Song – Ye Suhaana Samaa, Ye Umangen Jawaan (Nirmohi) (1952) Singers – Kavita, Lalit Mohan, Lyrics – Indeevar, MD – Madan Mohan
Lyrics
ye suhaana samaa
ye umangen jawaan
ye bahaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
gungunaane lagi hai jawaani
hmmm hmmm
hmmm hmmm
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmmmmm
hmmm hmmm
hmmm hmmm
gungunaane lagi hai jawaani
kehti phirti hain aankhen kahaani
kehti phirti hain aankhen kahaani
raat aankhon mein kab tak guzaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
ye suhaana samaa
ye umangen jawaan
ye bahaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
aate hain jab hwaaon ke jhonke
teri aahat samajh ke ye chaunke
teri aahat samajh ke ye chaunke
raah nis din ye naina nihaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
ye suhaana samaa
ye umangen jawaan
ye bahaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
mere armaan tujhko pukaaren
jo bin byaahe
mujhko likhe hai
aisi paati
kisey tu likhe hai
naam loon to umariya ghatey hai
hai wohi jo papeeha ratey hai
meri paati pathaa de tu jaldi
haath peeley hon lag jaaye haldi
loon khushi se main teri balainyyaan
jo ghar aa jaaye mora sainyyaan
jo ghar aa jaaye mora sainyyaan
