“Padmini” (1948) was directed by Wali Sahab for Punjab Film Corporation. The movie had Mumtaz Shanti, Ashok Kumar, Mumtaz Ali, Samson, Maya Devi, Neelam, Bibi, Ibrahim, Harun, Sultana, A Shah etc. in it.
Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from “Padmini”(1948) to appear in the blog. HFGK is silent about the singers of this song. On listening to this song, it becomes abundantly clear that this song is a duet sung by Geeta Dutt and Ashok Kumar. Wali Sahab is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Haider.
Only the audio of this song is available. Seeing that Mumtaz Shanti and Ashok Kumar were the lead pair in this movie, my guess is that this song was picturised on them. Nevertheless, I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
