“Ghar Ki Izzat”(1948) was produced and directed by Ram Daryani for Murli Movietone Bombay. The movie had Mumtaz Shanti, Dilip Kumar, Manorama, Jeevan, Dixit, Suleman, Gulab, Gope etc in it. The movie had 12 songs in it. Eight songs have been covered in the past.
Here is the ninth song from “Ghar Ki Izzat”(1948) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Shamshad Begam. I C Kapur is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govindram.

Saw this movie a few days back. I was struck by both Jeevan and Manorama. Manorama had a good rhytm and danced well. actually better than Mumtaz Shanti in the song filmed in their garden.
and the depth of emotions that Jeevan had as an poor ‘laachar’ bhai of the heroine.
By the 70s these two were playing totally different characters. I have seen them conspiring against Dev Anand in ‘Banarasi Babu’ and similar roles in various others. And that is the image that has set in my mind.
But seeing Ghar Ki Izzat showed how it all began.
Such versatility. that stood with them through their careers
