Hullo Atuldom

We, the regulars of this blog, are aware of the movie with the title “Karm” (1977) which had Rajesh Khanna- Shabana Azmi- Vidya Sinha in the lead. It was produced & directed by B.R. Chopra. The story of the film was based on a person’s FATE.

An addition of the alphabet ‘A’ to word ‘Karm’ gives us the word ‘Karam’, ‘Karma’ etc. As I understand the words- ‘Karam’ also means FATE but ‘Karma’ means act, action etc. There have been films with titles where ‘Dharam’ & ‘Karam’ or ‘Kanoon’ have been used together viz: ‘Dharam Karam’; ‘Mera Karam Mera Dharam’; ‘Tera Karam Mera Dharam’. Additionally, we have films with titles ‘Karamdaata’; ‘Karamyudh’; ‘Karamveer’ etc.

Today’s song is from the movie “Karam” which released in 2005. It was produced by Harry & Pammi Baweja and directed by Sanjay E. Gupta. Its cast was headed by Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, with Anjan Shrivastav, Shiney Ahuja, Vikramjeet Pradhan, Bharat Dhabolkar etc forming the supporting cast. The lyrics were by Vishal Dadlani, Irshad Kamil, Pankaj Awasthi, Amit Mishra, & Dev Kohli with Vishal-Shekhar as the music directors. The playback singers used were Alisha Chinai, Pankaj Awasthi, Harshdeep Kaur, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Sonu Nigam, & Vishal Dadlani.

This movie released in 2005. I have no clue about the plot of the movie other than what is written on the various internet sites:

“This action-thriller follows John, an assassin working for a mobster named Captain. After killing an entire family, he is hit by the consequences of his actions and decides to quit his job. He starts life anew with his pregnant wife Shalini. Meanwhile, John’s boss, Captain, is facing a threat from a rival don, Yunus. After being attacked, Captain decides to teach the city a lesson by killing the city’s top industrialist, top film producer, the cop backing Yunus and Yunus himself; so that everyone else falls in line and no one dreams of becoming another Yunus. He decides that John must carry out this plan of his. To achieve this, he takes Shalini hostage. John is given 36 hours to kill the five targets on the hit list. Things get worse when the city’s toughest cop Wagh traces John who is pressed for time and the body count is growing.”

But the songs of the film was highly recommended by my daughter. The song with this post is one that I have heard a number of times. It has Priyanka Chopra playing a singer, crooning an almost 1960s-style club song. John Abraham walks in as she is singing which reminded me of Zeenat Aman’s ‘aap jaisa koi mere’ where Feroz Khan is present in the audience.

I just remembered seeing an interview of Zeenat Aman, where she has said that she likes the work of Priyanka Chopra. A complement, I suppose, from one beauty to another, both of whom have won a pageant title.

With this post we are wishing the Jungli-billi (as Shahrukh Khan addresses her in ‘Don’ (2006)), or Piggy-chops (a pet name that some of her industry friends call her by) “A very Very Happy Birthday”.

This song is in Alisha Chinai’s voice and written by Vishal Dadlani & Irshad Kamil.

Song-Tinka tinka zara zara (Karam)(2005) Singer-Alisha Chinai, Lyrics-Vishal Dadlani & Irshad Kamil, MD-Vishal Shekhar

Lyrics

hmm mmhmm mmhmm
hmm mm hmm hmm
hmm mm hmm
hmm mm hmm mm
har dil mein armaan hote toh hain
har dil mein armaan hote toh hain
bas koi
bas koyi ee samjhe zara aa

tinka tinka zara zara
hai raushni se jaise bhara aa aa
tinka tinka zara zara
hai raushni se jaise bhara aa aa
har dil mein armaan hote toh hai
har dil mein armaan hote toh hai
bas koyi samjhe zara

dil pe ek naya sa nasha chhaa gaya
kho raha thha jo khwaab laut aa gaya
ye jo ehsaas hai jo karaar hai
kya isi ka hi naam pyaar hai ae
ye jo ehsaas hai jo karaar hai
kya isi ka hi naam pyaar hai
poochhe dil thham ke zara aa
tinka tinka zara zara
hai raushni se jaise bhara aa aa
har dil mein armaan hote toh hain
har dil mein armaan hote toh hain
bas koyi samjhe zara aa
tinka tinka
tinka tinka
