#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #

#Taraanaa-1979#
——————————
‘Taraana-1979’ was directed by Deepak Bahri for ‘Chanda Pictures’. It was presented by Rajshri Productions and produced by Tarachand Barjatya. Living upto the name of the production house this movie too gives us a clean, musical, family entertainer movie. This is a nice movie having a nice story line of ‘love’ and including sub-plots of ‘lost and found’ story, and ‘wealthy and poor’ conflict to it. The director of this movie Deepak Bahri has some good films to his name. These include movies like ‘Agent Vinod-1977’, ‘Ham Se Hain Zamaana-1983’, ‘Ustaadi Ustaad Se-1982’, ‘Woh Jo Haseenaa-1983’ and others.
The cast of this movie ‘Taraana-1979’ is Ranjeeta, Mithun Chakraborty, Dr Shreeram Lagoo, Urmila Bhatt, Jayshree T., Sharat Saxena, and Om Shivpuri. They were supported by Yunus Parvez, Janki Das, Sundar, Bhagwan, Shakeel, Satyabhan Sinha, Naresh, Pardesi, Master Sandeep, Shobha Khote, Mala Jaggi, Uma Khosla, and Jagdeep. The story, screenplay and dialogues of this movie were written by Khalid & Narvi. Editing of this film was done by Mukhtar Ahmed.
HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980) lists twelve songs for this movie. However, it seems that two songs were not included in the movie and out of these two even the audio/record is also not available for one song. Lyricist Ravindra Rawal and Tilakraj Thapar penned six songs each for this movie. Usha Mangeshkar, Shailendra Singh, Aarti Mukherjee, Jagjit Singh, Dilraj Kaur, Chetan and Varsha Bhonsle were the singers. Music for this movie was composed by Raamlaxman.
Today we move further in the journey of the songs of ‘Taraanaa-1979’. We know it’s a ‘love story’ and it has a ‘wealthy and poor’ conflict there have to be parents who oppose to the marriage of the ‘two lovers’ i.e. Shaym and Raani/Raadha in this story. So, we have a ‘judaaee’ song or ‘separation song between two lovers. In the picturisation the song is played in the background, and we have the ‘banjaaraas’ which Raani (Ranjeeta) belongs to, moving from one place to another or rather they have now vacated the ‘Thakur’s land’ and moving to unknown destination further. Chhote Thakur (Mithun Chakravarty) is also seen in the picturisation in injured condition, both disappointed and don’t know as and how they will be reunited again. 😊
Lyrics for this song are by Tilakraj Thapar, and music is composed by Raamlaxman. (In the footnote for this movie-page Geet Kosh mentions that the record labels carry the name of Ravindra Raval as the lyricist for this song). Usha Mangeshkar and Shailendra Singh are the singers. Let us listen to this song now… which is a nice song to listen to and it grows up on the listener as we listen to it more, but I am sure while listening to this song one starts to hum a different song, which is that song? 😊 Enjoy and identify.

Song-Kaisee ye judaayee hai (Taraana)(1979) Singers-Usha Mangeshkar, Shailendra Singh, Lyrics – Tilakraj Thapar, Music – Ram Laxman
Lyrics
kaisee ye judaaee hai ae ae
jaan pe ban aayee hai
ham majboor chaley
lo door chaley
lab pe duhaaee hai
teraa saath chhut gayaa
dil kaa saaz toot gayaa
tujh bin meet mere
in honthhon se ae
sangeet roothh gayaa
thhandee thhandee purwaayee ee ee ee
yaadon ne lee angdaayee
mere khayaalon mein
tu muskaayaa
aur aankh bhar aayee ee
panchhiyon ka deraa thhaa aa aa
do ghadee baseraa thhaa
kaun karegaa yakeen
ke kal ko yaheen een
sansaar meraa thhaa aa
ab naa paayal chhankegee ee
ab naa choodee khankegee
ab wo umang liye
wo rang liye ae
bindiyaa naa chamkegee
keh do in nazaaron se ae ae ae
baaghon kee bahaaron se
zakhmon ko mat chhedo
naa yoon khelo o o
ham gham ke maaron se ae
