Temporarily moving away from my series on Kamsune/Ansune Songs of Asha Bhosle, I present a very beautiful song from my teenage years –

“Yeh Kaisa Nasha Hai” sung by Shailendra Singh, written by D S Sultania and composed by Chand Pardesi from Yeh Kaisa Nasha Hai (1981).

With this post, Yeh Kaisa Nasha Hai makes its debut on the blog.

The movie is directed by D.S. Sultania, features a notable ensemble cast including Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Aruna Irani, Jagdeep, Shreeram Lagoo, Deven Verma, etc. The movie introduces Mahesh Kumar (Kothari) & Raashi. This is probably the only Hindi language movie of Mahesh Kothari who was very active in the Marathi cinema.

The film delves into themes of family relationships, marriage, and revenge, suggesting a narrative centered around complex interpersonal dynamics and emotional entanglements.

While specific plot details are scarce in available sources, the thematic focus indicates a story that likely explores the intricacies of familial bonds and the consequences of vengeance within a domestic setting.

The film’s music, composed by Chand Pardesi with lyrics by D.S. Sultania, complements its dramatic tone. The soundtrack features performances by renowned singers such as Suresh Wadkar, Sulakshana Pandit, Asha Bhosle, and Shailendra Singh. Notable songs include “Kaisa Yeh Nasha Hai,” “Dekh Ke Tera Roop,” and “Hum Hain Tumhare,” which contribute to the film’s emotional depth.

The song starts with a beautiful piece of single violin followed by a group of violins. The music is interspersed with great pieces of mandolin, alto saxophone and accordion. The nasal voice of Shailendra Singh gives it a haunting vibe. I hope you enjoy the song and are transported back to your nostalgic memories.

Song-Ye kaisa nasha hai (Ye Kaisa Nasha Hai)(1981) Singer-Shailendra Singh, Lyrics-D S Sultania, MD-Chaand Pardesi

Lyrics:

yeh kaisa nasha hai
mohabbat ka yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
ye kaisa nasha hai

pyaar karne ka mera to koi iraada naheen thha
yoon takraayega dil se dil maine socha naheen thha
pyaar karne ka mera to koi iraada naheen thha
yoon takraayega dil se dil maine socha naheen thha
ik mulaakaat mein
baat hee baat mein
mera dil kisee ne
churaaya hai yaaroon o
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
ye kaisa nasha hai

neend aankhon kee meree na jaane kahaan kho gayee hai
jee bhar ker tujhe aaj dekhoon tamanna yahee hai
neend aankhon kee meree na jaane kahaan kho gayee hai
jee bhar ker tujhe aaj dekhoon tamanna yahee hai
woh kitne paas hain
woh kitne door hain
jo baithhe hain chhup kar
mere dil mein yaaroon o
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
ye kaisa nasha hai

main kahaan thha kahaan hoon
na poochho kahaan ja raha hoon
geet tere milan ke sajan mere main ga raha hoon
main kahaan thha kahaan hoon
na poochho kahaan ja raha hoon
geet tere milan ke sajan mere main ga raha hoon
paas thha paas hoon
saathh thha saath hoon
mere dil kee manzil
yehee toh hai yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
yeh kaisa nasha hai
mohabbat ka yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
na samjha hai koi
na samjhega yaaron
ye kaisa nasha hai

Satyajit jee,

Thanks for this post. I have watched this movie then during the weekly screening of movies at our colony club. However, I do not remember its story now. It was a flop movie then. I remember this song since then and it was in my ‘wish-list’ too , being a song sung by Shailendra Singh.

Mahesh Kothare (not Kothari) has acted as a child artiste in Hindi movies like ‘Chhotaa Bhaai-1966, ‘Mere Laal-1966’, ‘Raja Aur Rank-1968’ etc. This movie was his first as an adult.

Thanks for the post and hope to see many more coming from you 🙂

Regards,

Avinash
