Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle- 23

Today’s song is from a kind of obscure movie called “Yauwan” (1973).

The movie starred Anil Dhawan, Yogita Bali, Sujit Kumar, Sunder Mohan, Jankidas, Kabir Bedi, Mohan Choti, Sajjan, Poornima, Sunder, Ashoo, Renu, Mehta, Sharma, Rajpal, Rajni Bala, Jugnu, etc. The movie was directed by Ranjan Bose for producer N P Singh.

If you are interested in knowing about the story of this film then please check out this post.

The movie has five songs out of which two songs have already been posted earlier. This is the third song to be posted.

Today’s song “Jalta Hai Yeh Tan Sun O Janeman” from the 1973 Hindi film “Yauwan”, sung by Asha Bhosle, is a classic example of the bold and sensuous mood songs that were emerging during the 1970s in Hindi cinema. The song is essentially a romantic seduction, portraying longing, physical desire, and emotional vulnerability, all cloaked in poetic metaphor. It represents the voice of a woman expressing her passionate yearning, which was quite daring for its time.

Asha Bhosle excels in such emotionally charged and expressive songs. She brings:

• Sensual softness in the low notes

• Urgency and flame in the higher tones

• A fine balance between suggestiveness and emotional sincerity

Her voice flows like liquid fire, echoing the burning metaphor of the lyrics.

Though the film is relatively obscure, the orchestration in this song likely reflects the popular arrangement styles of the era:

• A slow, smoldering tempo

• Use of strings and sitar or flute interludes to highlight the emotion

This song is penned by Omkar Varma and composed by Sonik Omi.

On screen we see Ashoo lip syncing the song, trying to get closer or seducing Anil Dhawan.

Song-Jalta hai ye tan sun o jaaneman(Yauwan)(1973) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Omkar Verma, MD-Sonik Omi

Lyrics:

jalta hai yeh tan
sun o janeman
baahon mein le le mujhe
jalta hai yeh tan
sun o janeman
baahon mein le le mujhe
pyaasi hoon oon oon barsaat mein
haath de ee ee tu mere haath mein
jalta hai yeh tan
sun o janeman
baahon mein le le mujhe

bheega hai aha ha ha
bheega hai mera badan
phir bhi hai dil pe agan
machalee hai meri nazar jaan-e-jigar tu dekhe na
tera bholaapan loote mera man
samjhaaoon kaise tujhe
pyaasee hoon oon oon barsaat mein
haath de ae ae tu mere haath mein
jalta hai yeh tan
sun o jaaneman
baahon mein le le mujhe

letee hoon angdaaiyaan
dasti hain tanhaaiyan
aise mein tu bhi jawaan main bhi jawaan
aaja na na jaa
letee hoon
aaa
leti hoon angdaaiyaan
dasti hai tanhaaiyan
aise mein tu bhi jawaan
main bhi jawan aaja na na jaa
kehti hai dhadkan
harjaai na ban
samjhaoon kaise tujhe
pyaasee hoon oon oon barsaat mein
haath de ee ee
tu mere haath mein
jalta hai yeh tan
sun o jaaneman
baahon mein le le mujhe
