Hullo Atuldom
“Kasme Vaade” (1978) was produced and directed by Ramesh Behl under his ROSE MOVIES banner. It was Ramesh Behl’s first as director. The songs were written by Gulshan Bawra & composed by R. D. Burman. Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Anand Kumar C. & Pancham (R.D. Burman) were the playback singers for the 8 songs. Of the 8 songs two songs (‘aati rahengi bahaarein’ & ‘kasme vaade nibhaayenge hum’) were multi version songs.
The film had Rakhee, Neetu Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Randhir Kapoor in the main lead with Rekha in a guest appearance and Amjad Khan in special appearance.
Master Bhagwan (Dada) was there for one song at the start of the film. That song was meant to show the happy-go-lucky character of Randhir Kapoor. Also we had Vijayendra Ghatge in a brief role as spoilt-brat-college student.
The film had a very simple story. Amitabh Bachchan (1) & Rakhee are in love from the start of the film. AB (1) has a happy-go-lucky college-student brother (Randhir Kapoor) who keeps getting in a tangle with his batchmate Vijayendra. Amitabh (1) gets killed in the crossfire. Rakhee & Randhir Kapoor change location after this incident. They encounter Amitabh (2) & Neetu Singh in the new location. Amitabh (2) is a conman involved in driving cars flicked from parking lots. He is assigned the job of driving a car-laden with smuggled gold, by Amjad Khan. Then there is a sub-plot of Amitabh (2) beginning to develop feelings for Rakhee; and Amjad Khan using Rakhee to trap AB (2) to ferry smuggled goods.
The blog has the following songs from the film

With today’s song “Kasme Vaade” reaches YYIIPPEEEE status. The song is in the voices of Asha Bhosle & Anand Kumar C. It is a lesser known song which is a dancer number with Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan repeating their ‘salaam-e-ishq meri jaan’ (from ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’) type of dance. Not a great classic of a song but as we have learnt over the years of following the entertainment world,
“Each and every song from Hindi Films do deserve a place on this blog. Some more some less. So let’s not be dismissive. A lot of time and effort has gone in to making the songs, by many artists.”
Also, only then will a movie attain YYIIPPEEEE status .
What I have mentioned in Italics above is not only my thoughts but of many followers of this blog. As recently as June 22, 2025 Satyajit Rajurkarji had also said this in the comments for the song ‘gumsum kyun hai sanam’ a song that was originally recorded for this film but used in another Randhir Kapoor- Neetu Singh film ‘Bhala Mannus’. (I have quoted Satyajitji verbatim)
Incidentally, today is the 16th death anniversary of the lyricist of this film- Gulshan Bawra. He was born Gulshan Kumar Mehta in 1937, in present day Pakistan. The ‘Bawra’ pen-name was given to him by a film distributor. He had a long career in films from 1959/60 to 1999. He was a two-time Filmfare award winner in the Lyricist category. He had acted in a few films too.
P.S.– I just realised that I know the songs of this film by-rote, including this one. Maybe because it was from one of the first music cassettes that my dad brought home along with our PANASONIC two-in-one in 1978.

pyaar jhootha hai inka
inse kya pyaar karen
ye to harjaai hain bhole hain
inse bachke sada rehna
baney yaar
aa aa aa aa aa
raaz e ulfat jo samjhna hai
to pehlu mein aa aa aa
mil ke bhanwre se hee to haan haan
nikhar jaatee hai kalee

arre duniya se to dar
aise ruswa to na kar

Nice post Peevesie’s Mom jee. Thanks for remembering Gulshan Bawra on his ‘Remembrance Day’. And yes ! thanks for adding one more to Pancham’s tally on the blog.
I think I had forgotten this song and the situation for this song in the movie. After listening to it, I remember the song, but I did not remember when it happens in the movie.
Thanks,

Thank you Nalini Ji for revisiting my comment on an earlier song. But, believe you me, it hurts when someone dismisses a song as not worthy of finding a place in the blog.
