Hullo to all in Atuldom

There was a very popular movie in our times… here I am considering the period of the late 70s when many of the followers of this blog were in high school or just out of school… no offence meant to the others in the blog. i know for a fact that even they would have enjoyed the movie I am talking of. ? It had one lovely song after another.

But the particular song which I was thinking of for the last few days is absolutely descriptive of our blog. Let me explain why?
For the past few weeks or months our Yyiippee!! Gang is hot on the heels of Atulji in his mission to post all the songs from movies which have one or two songs left. So when Atulji signals that all the songs have been covered and the movie can be written in RED the Atulites give out an Yyiippee!! A term coined by the Yyiippee!! gang leader. In this journey what is happening is other team members visit the previously posted songs of the said movie and update the video or audio link if it is found to not be functioning; and this activity gets highlighted in the comments column on the right of the blog. (Why is the YYIIPPEE gang particular to have functioning audio and video links will need another post and the gang leader himself will be the right person to explain this.)

Now I have formed a habit of seeing what is the activity that has taken place on that particular song especially if it belongs to an yyiippeed movie. In the process I read or re-read what Atulji had written in there or what the various comments to that song was about.

And quite often I have read these words of Atulji and I quote

“When I had begun this blog, my grand vision was to discuss 2500 songs. I had thought that by that time I would have discussed all the Hindi movie songs that are worth discussing. When I finally reached that magic figure (on 29 may 2010), I found that I had just scratched the surface, as far as discussing the great Hindi movie songs was concerned and that many great songs were not yet discussed. Now, 1000 songs later, I feel just the same. 1000 songs later, did I say? Yes I did. In other words, this blog is now 3500 songs old. Yes, 3500 of the choicest songs, mostly from the golden era of Hindi movie songs have now been posted in this blog.” (This I have picked verbatim from Atulji’s 3500th post

(hope he doesn’t mind my copy pasting it here) that accompanied the most popular song from “Jhumroo”.)

I must add that even after 12220 songs and 8 years of the blog we still seem to have only scratched the surface and many great & meaningful songs are yet to be discovered. In between we also discover a few not-so-good songs and I think that should be excused.

Another thing that makes this blog special is the fact that Atulji has managed to have a steady rise in the number of visitors to the blog and at last count it stood at 8220272, PHEW!!! Now that is something! Add to this a few of us who call ourselves regulars to the blog. And as the drops in the ocean or the links of a chain this blog has grown and HOW!? Here is wishing that the blog continues to grow; and I pray that if not faster it should never slow down. And the camaraderie among Atulwaasis is forever.

I hope when we listen to the song that follows it will become clear why I said that this song absolutely describes our blog. And considering not all of us are shayars (poets) we should thank Anand BakshijiGulshan Baawra ji for this song. Thanks are also due to RD Burman for composing it. And finally; hoping that when we see Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Amitabh Bachchan singing in the voices of Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Mohd. Rafi we get in the party mood to celebrate our blog’s birthday.

A VERY VERY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ATUL’S SONG A DAY!!!

Lyrics

hey

miley jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer bane
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer bane
miley jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer baney
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer baney
ho
hamsafar ban ke chalo
toh suhaana hai safar
jo akela hi rahe
usey na miley dagar

haan
miley jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer baney
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer baney

maar ke man ko jiye to kya jiye
o o o o
zindagi hai muskuraane ke liye
u u u u
arey maar ke man ko jiye to kya jiye
zindagi hai muskuraane ke liye
jo bhi pal beet gaya
laut ke aata nahin
jo bhi hai yaheen pe hai
saath kuchh jaata nahin
haan
miley jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer bane
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer baney

o hoy o hoy o hoy o hoy
o hoy o hoy o hoy o hoy

o oy o oy o oy o oy
o oy o oy o oy o oy
o oy o oy o oy o oy
o oy o oy o oy o oy
o oy o oy o oy o oy

ooooo ooooo
ooooo oooo
chaahe aur kuchh na mujhe yaar de
yaar tu jee bhar ke mujhe pyaar de
u u u u u
chaahe aur kuchh na mujhe yaar de
yaar tu jee bhar ke mujhe pyaar de
badi mushqil se bhala
yaar milta hai yahaan
koyi hamraaz na ho toh hai soona ye jahaan

miley jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer baney
pyaar ke rang bharo zinda tasveer bane

hamsafar ban ke chalo
to suhaana hai safar
jo akela hi rahe
usey na mile dagar

haan
mile jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer bane
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer bane

hup hup hup
ooo
hup hup hup
ooo
hup hup hup
ooo

jaane ek din ye kaise ho gaya
chalte-chalte main raahon mein kho gaya
jaane ek din ye kaise ho gaya
chalte-chalte main raahon mein kho gaya
subah ka bhoola hua shaam ghar laut aaye
usey bhula na kaho
yahi hai apni raai

mile jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer bane

pyaar ke rang bharo zinda tasveer bane
hamsafar ban ke chalo to suhaana hai safar
jo akela hi rahe use na mile dagar
(KK + Rafi + Asha)
mile jo kadi-kadi
ek zanjeer bane
pyaar ke rang bharo
zinda tasveer bane
ho zinda tasveer bane

ho
ho
ho
ho

Nalini ji,
Nice song selection indeed for the occasion, coupled with a good post. Thanks.

Thanks, Peevisie’s Mom, for posting a perfect song for the occasion. 🙂 With your usual, warm, write-up. This song was indeed popular in its time.
One confession: I have yet to see this film. It was quite a bit hit at the time, but since I was still nursing a grudge against Amitabh for having dethroned Rajesh, I didn’t see this movie. 🙂 Now, after all these years, maybe I finally will.
I do like this song though. 🙂

Nice self-catch.
In fact, all songs in this movie were penned by Gulshan Bawra.
