Ganesh Utsav or Ganpati Utsav the ten-day long festival of worshipping Lord Ganesh has commenced this year from 27th August 2025. This festival is celebrated all over the country. On this occasion we wish all a very Happy and Safe Ganesh Utsav to all. We pray to Lord Ganesha to shower his blessings on all. Let this festival bring happiness and prosperity to all.
The song that we are going to listen to today expresses the same sentiments of present day worshippers that the characters on screen feel while praying to Lord Ganesh to save Lord Krishna from the accusation of killing Prasanna (King Shatrajeet’s brother), as suspected by Shatrajeet. The story behind this song in the movie is that King Shatrajeet had given the ‘syamantak manee’, which he received from Surya Dev (God Sun) to his brother Prasanna who is Shri Krishna’s friend. However Prasanna goes on a lion hunt wearing the ‘manee’ but is killed by a Lion who take the ‘manee’. Jaambvant the king of bears kills the lion and takes the manee and give it to his son. Lord Krishna looking for the ‘manee’ reaches Jaambvant’s place where Jaambvant suspecting him to be a thief challenges him. Both of them have a fight there which continues for several days. In the meanwhile Satyabhama is worried for Lord Krishna and she pray to Lord Vishnu to save Krishna. Lord Vishnu advices her to pray to vighnvinaashak Ganesh, who can save Krishna from this crisis. The prayer to Lord Ganesh takes place in this situation whereRukmini (Radha Saluja) and Satyabhama (Kanan Kaushal) are praying to Ganesha and requesting him to save Krishna from this crisis.
This movie “Jai Dwaarikaadheesh-1977” was directed by Sushil Kumar Gupta for Satya Jyot Films, Bombay. Geet Kosh Vol-V (1971-1980) mentions that this movie was made under the supervision of Babubhai Mistry. This mythological movie was passed by the censor board on 26.11.1977. The cast of this movie has Ashish Kumar, Kanan Kaushal, Radha Saluja (in guest appearance), Jayshree T., Manhar Desai, Ramesh Deo, B.M. Vyas, S.N. Tripathi, Babu Raje, Bharat Bhooshan, Jairaj, Hercules, Polsan, Anita Guha, Dhanraj, Satyadeep, Shahi Kapoor, Sahgal, Anant Marathe, Bhagwan Sinha, Shree Bhagwan, Harish Bhimani, Moolchand, Shyam Kumar, Radheshyam, Ratnamala, Ratna and others.
“Jai Dwaarikaadheesh-1977” has seven songs which were all penned by Bharat Vyas. Music for this movie was composed by Ajay Swami. The singers for this movie are Mahendra Kapoor, Asha Bhonsle, Suman Kalyanpur, Dilraj Kaur, and Anuradha.
