Today’s song is from the movie ‘Maanavtaa’. This is another movie from the year 1972 which is still missing on the blog.

‘Maanavtaa’ was directed by Chanakya. It had Radha Saluja, Swroop Dutt, Vijayta, Ramesh Deo, Sulochana, Manorama, Manmohan Krishna, Randhir, Sapru, Kalpana Deewan, Ramesh Mehta, Vatsala, Shekhar Purohit and others. This movie also had child artistes Guddi, Mayank and Harsha. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 04.12.1972.

This movie has five songs – four penned by Indeewar and one song penned by Gulshan Bawra. Music for this movie was composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

The list of songs in this movie is as given below (as provided in HFGK).

I do not remember to have listened to the songs of this movie earlier. I think this must be an obscure movie of its time. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

Today’s song is sung by Kishore Kumar and on screen it is lip-synced by Swaroop Dutt. Also seen in the picturisation of this song is Radha Saluja. Before listening to the song let us have a look at the alphabetical list of movies of 1972 up to this movie.

Here is the alphabetical list of movies of 1972 up to today’s movie, which is the 67th film in this list.
Ed Note: In the interest of brevity, the list is collapsed to show the films onward from the previous episode in the series , namely ‘Kundan’ plus the ones that are without any available information or songs. Readers may refer to previous episodes of this series for earlier details – “Baanka Sipahiya Aaya Mori Daiyya“.

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Gaal Ghulaabi Nain Sharaabi-1974’.

This movie made its debut on the blog with its song ‘meri hasraton ki duniya’ on 10.02.2009. However, after that the movie is still waiting for the appearnce of its second song on the blog, and we are going to listen its second song today (14 August 2021).
This will be after a long gap of 4,568 days or twelve years-six months -and -four days. The first song from the movie was song post number 207 for the blog. This second song from the movie is song post number 16525 !

I was aware with this movie-title. I had either read about it somewhere or I must have heard it during my discussions with elders at home. I have neither watched the movie nor listened to its songs attentively. I am familiar with the song that has been posted on the blog which I think that is the only well-known song from this movie.

‘Gaal Ghulaabi Nain Sharaabi-1974’ was directed by Devi Sharma for ‘Janta Chitra’. Devi Sharma was also the producer of this movie.

It had Radha Saluja, Kiran Kumar, Paintal, Arpana Chowdhary, and Ranjeet. They were supported by Jankidas, Dinesh Hingoo, Sunil Dhawan, S.K. Prem and others. Ritu Kamal make a special appearance in this movie.

Story and dialogues of ‘Gaal Ghulaabi Nain Sharaabi’ were written by Devi Sharma. Screenplay of this movie was written by Ravi Kapoor. Editing of this movie was done by Ghulam Hussain.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 03.12.1974.

This movie had six songs, five were written by Kulwant Jaani and one song was written by Rameshwar Tyagi. Music for this movie was composed by Shamji Ghanshamji.

06 Balle balle … ham laaye hain Kaabul se Krishna Kalle, Vani Jairam

As mentioned above only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog on 10.02.2009.

Today’s song is sung by Krishna Kalle and Preeti Sagar. Lyrics of this song are written by Rameshwar Tyagi, and this is the only song he has written for this movie. That is the reason I selected this song for today’s presentation. Secondly when I listened to this song, I liked the composition too. It is a ‘kotha’ song and picturized on Radha Saluja whom Ranjeet, in a drunken state, imagined performing on this song. However, there are other female artists performing on this song whom I am unable to identify as the video (from the movie available online) is not clear.

As I have said above, I have not watched this movie. So, I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

Let us now enjoy today’s rocking song with poetic lyrics by Rameshwar Tyagi.

Song-Tera waade pe waada hota gaya (Gaal Gulaabi Nain Sharaabi)(1974) Singers- Krishna Kalle, Preeti Sagar, Lyrics-Rameshwar Tyagi, MD-Shamji Ghanshamji

Lyrics

tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya
dil betaab jyaadaa hota gaya
jeene ki mohlat ghat’ti gayi
marne ka taqaaza hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya

ruk jaayen kise ke roke se ae
ye ulfat ka dastoor nahin
aa jaayen teri marzi ke bina
tere dar pe tujhe manzoor nahin
tum jitney bache
utna hi kar
milne ka iraada hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya
dil betaab jyaadaa hota gaya
jeene ki mohlat ghat’ti gayi
marne ka taqaaza hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya

kasam khaayi hai qismat ne
hamen milne nahin degi
hamaare dil ki ye hasrat
nikalne bhi nahin degi
magar ye pyaar to
lalkaar ke dar se nahin rukta
shahenshaahon ki hasti kya
khuda se bhi nahin jhuktaa
shahenshaahon ki hasti kya
khuda se bhi nahin jhuktaa aa
thukraa ke jahaan mera dil to tujhe
paane pe aamaadaa hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya
dil betaab jyaadaa hota gaya
jeene ki mohlat ghat’ti gayi
marne ka taqaaza hota gaya
tera waade pe waadaa hota gaya

“Chaalaak”(1973) was directed by T N Sharma and R K Bannerji for Film Dhara, Bombay. This “social” movie had Radha Saluja, Kiran Kumar, Alka, Jayshree T, Brahmchaari, Keshto Mukherji, Jagdeesh Raj, Brahm Bhardwaj, Master Ratan, Uma Dutt, Paresh Nanda, Moolchand, Banjara, Bachan Singh, Elizabeth, Suring=der Khanna, Sheikh, Bhola, Satyarani, Sudakshana Mukherji etc with guest appearances by Maruti, Hercules, Lalita Kumari, and friendly appearances by Ajeet, Gautam Sareen, P Jairaj and Danny Danjongpa.

The movie had five songs in it. Three of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the fourth song from “Chaalaak”(1973). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar and chorus. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ganesh.

The song is picturised as a party song. I am unable to identify the lady lip syncing the song in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. Danny lip syncs in Kishore Kumar’s voice. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the lip syncing lady.

The music of the song sounds familiar but that is not because this music was heard earlier. That is because this music was heard years later in a Laxmikant Pyarelal composition, viz “gore nahin ham kaale sahi” in “Deshpremi”(1982). Or is it some other song. I request our knowledeable readers to tell us about the song where this music is reused.

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2009-19) – Song No. 29
————————————————

Hullo to all in Atuldom

Dil Ka Nazraana Le O Dildaar Le” – this was the debut post of the 1973 movie “Chalaak” which was directed by someone called RK Banerjee. All these years I had only heard this song. Thanks to the ongoing ten-year challenge series I landed on the post of the song which had been popular in the 70s and is still heard on Vividh Bharti (All India Radio), I learnt that it was a Kiran Kumar – Radha Saluja song, which movie etc.

I landed on that post because of this “Mann Gaaye Wo Taraana“. Now this is another song that was popular on the radio in those days and is still heard sometimes on radio. I learnt that this is a piano song with Alka at the piano and Kiran Kumar in a jeep.

Radha Saluja and Alka are lost to followers of Bollywood and Kiran Kumar has turned to doing character roles or supporting roles since 1988 when we saw him in Rakesh Roshan’s “Khudgarz”. The rest of the cast of this movie comprised of Bhram Bharadwaj, Ajit, Danny, Lalita Kumari, P Jairaj, Gautam Sareen (in friendly appearances) alongwith Keshto Mukherjee, Jayshree T, Jagdish Raj etc. The synopsis of the movie as given on IMDB is

Monica Kapoor (Radha Saluja) lives a wealthy lifestyle in London, England. When she hears that her estranged brother, Kishan (Bhram Bharadwaj), has been killed while traveling in a train, she returns home to India and asks his much younger and drop dead gorgeous widow, Shobha (Alka), to move out so that she could sell the house, pick up the cash, return to London and get married to her boyfriend, Manoj (Danny). She does get to sell the house and compels Shobha to move in with Kishan’s friend, Amar (Kiran Kumar), but Manoj steals the cash and disappears. Humbled by this incident, Monica also moves in with Amar and Shobha, as well as Amar’s younger brother, Chickoo, and ends up falling in love with Amar. She decides to marry him at the Registrar’s Office. When he does not show, she returns home and finds him getting intimate with Shobha. What Monica does not know is that Amar is not who he claims to be but is, in fact, an escaped convict, who is determined to marry Shobha and get her to reveal the secret location of some gold bars.

Looks like it was a typical masaala film (should see it when I get some time).

There were 6 posts on 17th of April 2009:

Koi Humdum Na Raha

Tum Apni Saheli Ko

Raina Beeti Jaaye

Mann Gaaye Wo Taraana

Tera Mera Saath Rahe

Rootha Hai To Manaa Lenge

Of these ‘Jhumroo’, ‘Amar Prem’ and ‘Jwaar Bhaata’ have all their songs on the blog that means these movies have been YYIIPPEEEED! ‘Samaaj Ko Badal Daalo’ has three songs left and ‘Saudaagar’ has two left. ‘Chalaak’ has only two songs on the blog. Here is the third. It is written by Hasrat Jaipuri and Ganesh is the music director. It has playback by Asha Bhonsle.

#the Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
————————————————————
# Bhoole-Bisre Geet # 61 # Movies with same titles ‘Haar Jeet’
———————————————–—————————————–

Recently our dear Kamath Saab shared the song ‘Mast Pawan Shaakhen Lehraayen’ from the 1940 movie ‘Haar Jeet’. And seeing that post I immediately recalled sharing one song from the film having the same title – ‘Haar Jeet’ and released in 1972. I thought that a song from this ‘Haar Jeet’ (1972) was already posted on the blog. Or maybe it was discussed in some post or mentioned in comments on the blog.

And very co-incidentally few days before the post of Kamath Saab I was browsing the blog for the movies that I was searching in the ‘list-of-songs-by-movies’ but was unable to locate them. At that time I also searched for this movie ‘Haar Jeet’ (1972), but could not locate it.  Simultaneously I succeeded to locate ‘Chaacha Bhateeja’ (1977), which was recently introduced on the blog. The spelling I was searching with was ‘Chacha Bhatijaa’ (like ‘Chacha Chaudhary’ (1953) and ‘Chacha Zindabad’ (1959)). Then I also found the movie ‘Samaapti’ (1949) which I tried to search with wrong 🙂 options like ‘Sampatti’.

When I could not locate the 1972 ‘Haar Jeet’, I tried to search it with different spelling combinations. But could not succeed. So, I concluded that this movie is yet to make a debut on the blog. And if this post, is passed by our Central Board of Post Certification 😉 this movie is going to make a debut on the blog today. This post and the debut of this movie also serves one of my ‘purpose’ of introducing the ‘movies having same title’.

My last post in this endeavor was on 24 Sep 2016 when I shared the song Ye Pyaar Bada Beimaan Hai from the 1951 movie ‘Saudaagar’. After such a long gap, even I have to ask myself – ‘itney din tum kahaan rahe’ 🙂

On our blog we already have ‘Haar Jeet’ from 1940 and also from 1954. Today this ‘third’ ‘Haar Jeet’ of 1972 makes a debut on the blog. This film is directed by CP Dixit for ‘Prithvi Pictures, Bombay’. It was a social movie. In a footnote, HFGK makes a note that this movie was based on the story of K Balachander’s ‘Thamarai Nenjam’. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 10.04.1972. It has Rehana Sultan, Anil Dhawan, Radha Saluja, Mehmood, Madan Puri, Dhoomal, Baby Sarika, Master Alankar, Baby Tabassum, Chintu, Bhola, Jal Khatau, Arun Kumar and Kamini Kaushal in friendly appearance.

The film has four songs as per HFGK Vol- V. All the four songs are written by Anand Bakshi, and music is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey have lent their voices to the songs in this movie.

Today’s song is a lovely duet sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar and lip synced on screen by Radha Saluja and Anil Dhawan respectively. Lyrics are by Anand Bakshi, and music is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Since I had not watched this movie I could not say much about this movie or its songs. I would request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

Here is the sixth and final song from “Ek Mutthi Aasmaan”(1973) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Indeewar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan. The song is picturised as a suspense song where Faryal is shown lip syncing this song in an accusatory tone, charging Radha Saluja with murder. Kamal Kapoor is also present to lend a more suspenseful aura to the proceedings.

With this song, “Ek Mutthi Aasmaan”(1973) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Hullo Atulwaasis

I know many followers of this blog are also fans of cricket. I am sure many have their favourite cricket commentators. I will not say Sunil Gavaskar is my favourite commentator but yes, I remember many points that he has made over the years in his commentary. Specially in the period when he had just taken to commentary after his stint as a successful cricketer. This is a point he has made regularly, it can be taken as his advice to young cricketers. He has said and I quote: “always try to reach your milestone run of 50 or 100 with a four or two, never a single.”

So another new year is upon us. 2016 is gone and now we are into 2017. Celestially speaking, the earth has completed one full circle round the sun during this period. While the earthlings were busy indulging in their petty activities during this year, the earth covered a distance of 970 millions km at a speed of 107000 kmph which is a speed of 30 km/second !

“Minoo” (1977) was a Hena Films Production. It wa directed by Parshuram and Pushraj. The movie had Baby Moonmoon, Dinesh Thakur, Radha Saluja, Nanditha Thakur, Padma Khanna, Jagdeep, Anwar Hussain, Dulari,Sudhir, Manmauji, Ranjeet Sood etc in it. The story of this movie revolves around a small girl child who was hoping that her mother is going to bring a small brother to play with her. Unfortunately, her mother never returns from hospital to her side. Her father remarries and the girl find it very hard to digest the situation and flees from home. A movie with this kind of story line and that too made on a small budget with no stars did not have a market those days. In fact, a movie like this does not have a market even today and so few people watched this movie.

“Doraaha” (1971) was produced by Ram Dayal and directed by Firoz Chinoy. This movie had an adult theme and that made the movie a “controversial” movie. In other words, the movie audience, media as well as the censors were not mature enough to handle movies of this genre. This movie, as well as other movies of the same genre, viz. “Dastak”, “Chetna” etc suffered from wrong publicity which attracted wrong kind of movie goers to these movies. The movies suffered at the box office. Come to thingk of it, Indian movie audience, media as well as the censors have not yet matured even today, some four decades later, to be able to deal with these kind of movies.
