Pancham’s Music – Eighties-to-Nineties (1981-1994…) Duets-5
My previous post in this series had a duet song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Suresh Wadkar for the movie ‘Palay Khan-1986’. Incidentally, in this post we again have a duet song by the same singers, but coming from the pen of another lyricist.
This song is from the movie “Apne Apne-1987” which was directed by Ramesh Behl for ‘Rose Movies’. It was passed by Censor Board on 05.03.1987. Ramesh Behl, who directed this movie, was also the producer of this movie. The cast of this movie included Jeetendra, Rekha, Karan Shah, and Mandakini, with Satish Shah, Atlee Brar, Dan Dhanoa, Sushma Seth, Bina, Babli, Anjana, Ghanshyam, Chandu, Pandurang Boloor, Lata, Sheela, Leena, Mina, Tina, Rupa, Omi Chopra, Surendra, Rahi, Vasu, Iqbal, Rakesh, Reshma Aurora, Anthony, Prakash, and Kader Khan. Hema Malini had a special appearance in this movie. This movie was written by Aziz Qaisi. Sunder Shetty was the editor of this movie.
“Apne Apne-1987”has six songs (including one two part song) which were all written by Gulshan Bawra. Music for this movie was composed by R.D. Burman. The playback singer’s list for this movie has Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Amit Kumar, Suresh Wadkar and R.D. Burman himself.
By 1987,Pancham’s career was already on decline. This decline had started in 1986. R.D. Burman had composed music in only 9 movies released in 1987. In comparison, he had composed music in 17 and 18 movies during 1984 and 1985 followed by 7 songs only in 1986.
I have not watched this movie yet, so I can’t say anything about this movie here today. However I had earlier presented a song from this movie on this blog. And today I am presenting the second song from this movie here. The today’s song is a nice duet song sung by Suresh Wadkar and Lata Mangeshkar. The song is a familiar song for me and I very well remember listen to this song earlier. It is a romantic song picturised on Rekha and Jeetendra and they are lip-syncing for the voices of Lata Mangeshkar and Suresh Wadkar respectively. This duet song deserves to be a popular song which I think was forgotten easily as the movie had not been a successful movie of its time.
