‘Muqaddar Ka Faisla-1987’ was directed by Prakash Mehra for ‘Dharma Productions, Bombay’. It was produced by Yash Johar. The cast of this movie has Raaj Kumar, Rakhee Gulzar, Raj Babbar, Tina Munim, Akbar Khan, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Pran, Vijayendra Ghatge, Kajal Kiran, Ranjeet, Bindu, Satyen Kappu, Ram Sethi, Om Prakash, Bharat Bhooshan and others.

Story of this film was written by Laxmikant Sharma and he also wrote the screenplay of this movie jointly with Prakash Mehra. Dialogues of this movie were written by Kader Khan. Editing of this movie was done by Jayant Adhikari and Shyam Gupte. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 26.06.1987.

‘Muqaddar Ka Faisla-1987’ has six songs composed by Bappi Lahiri. Prakash Mehra (two songs) and Anjaan (four songs) wrote the lyrics of the songs in this movie. The playback singers for this movie are Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Munna (?) (As the titles of this movie mentioned therein, I guess he is Mohd Aziz).

One song from this movie ‘Muqaddar Ka Faisla-1987’ has already been psoted on the blog on 13.07.2022. I have never watched this movie and do not recall to have read about it earlier. Our dear Prakashchandra jee has provided details about the story of this movie while commenting on the first song from this movie. I am reproducing the text of his comment below and adding the name of the artistes to their character names they play the role of in this movie.

Story synopsis borrowed from various internet sites 😦 which I have jotted down, for presenting a song from this movie, in the blog)

‘Muqaddar ka Faisla’, is the story of Pandit Krishna Kant (Raaj Kumar). He is a poor, but extremely honest, upright, god-fearing man, who refuses to compromise on his principles. Thus suffering of job loss one after the other. He is put to humiliations and even imprisonments, but he refuses to compromise – refuses to join hands with the evil.
In his absence from home, their evil minded landlord, Dhanraj attempts to rape Rukmani (Raakhee), Krishna Kant`s wife, but in vain. To avenge his defeat Dhanraj later succeeds in implicating her in a drug running racket. Tragedy hounds Pandit Krishna Kant everywhere, just because he is incorruptible. He is separated from his wife and three children. He is on the streets, jobless, penniless, hungry, hurt and lonely.
Raju (Raj Babbar), a young criminal coaxes and convinces Pandit Babu to do away with his holy robe and to join him as his accomplice.
The disillusioned and disenchanted Pandit Krishna Kant throws away his holy robe and put on the criminal`s grab and becomes Master –both in name and crime.
Strange are the ways of destiny .Master, finds himself now, working with Dhanraj (Pran) and accomplice, the very people who had destroyed him, his soul, his peaceful existence.
The spate of irony of fates: Raju, who has transformed Pandit, a Holy man,
into a life of crime, unknown to both, is none other than his own eldest son, Raj. Raj, who is in love with Meena (Meenakshi Sheshadri) , who is trying to reform him is a daughter of a man who has provided shelter to his own mother , Rukmani devi. The doctor Harish (Akbar Khan) whom Raju wants to kill, is Raju`s own younger brother. And the girl Nisha (Tina Munim), Dr Harish, wants to get married is the daughter of none other than Dhanraj, who had tried to molest his mother. And had trapped her in a drug running racket and got her imprisoned.
The jewels Both father and son are about to rob are in the custody of Rukmani, Master`s wife and Raju`s Mother! Master recognizes his wife-and the wheels of providence take a full round about turn.
How little we, mere mortals know, what providence has in store for us, what are the judgements of providence. What is Muqaddar ka Faisla?

Today I am presenting the second song from this movie which is in the voice of Kishore Kumar. I came across this song recently during my daily browsing and listening of songs. This song is a gem of a song.

This philosophical song is lip synced by Raaj Kumar. The story of this movie as mentioned above gives us the background story of this song. I guess that the appears happens in the movie three parts, video of the two parts is available. The third part of this song is my guess since the audio of the song has this one extra stanza as compared to the video of the song.

Raaj Kumar, Rakhee Gulzar, Shammi and others are seen in the picturisation of the first part, with movie credits appearing on screen. The slower version gets played in the background while Raj Kumar and Raj Babbar are seen in the picturisation.

Prakash Mehra is the lyricist of this wonderful Bappi Lahiri composition. This has to be arguably the best lyrics penned by Prakash Mehra and a feather in the cap of Kishore Kumar as a singer and Bappi Lahiri as a music director.
