When the movie mage its debut in the blog, my knowledge of HFM was quite inadequate. That reflects in my writeups of the songs of this movie. But the comments of knowledgeable readers on these writeups compensated for my lack of knowledge. Thanks to these invaluable comments, now I can identify not just the lead actors, but even lesser actors. In all these years, now I know that “Jhoola”(1941) was the inspiration for “Padosan”(1968). Now I also know that Mehmood’s father Anwar Ali used to be a fixture in these Ashok Kumar movies of Bombay Talkies. Moreover, now I can also identify the lady paired opposite Anwar Ali as Shahzadi.
Here is the eleventh and final song of “Jhoola”(1941) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Ashok Kumar. Kavi Pradeep is the lyricist. Music is composed by Saraswati Devi. The song is a sad song which is sung by Ashok Kumar as he is leaving for some unknown destination- “teree duniya se ho ke mazboor chale bahut door bahut door” style. After a while, the song revetrs to the line of another song of the movie, namely “chalee re chalee re meree naav chalee re”. So one can think of this song as the sad version of “Chalee re chalee re” song which was the first song from this movie to be covered on the blog. But the HFGK considers it a different song, and I too have considered it a different song.
With this song, now all the 11 songs of “Jhoola”(1941) have been covered in the blog. The movie thus joins the list of movies that have been YIPPEED in the blog.
Song-Hamne kisee se sunee kahaanee (Jhoola)(1941) Singer-Ashok Kumar, Lyricist-Kavi Pradeep, MD-Saraswati devi
Lyrics
Hamne kisee se sunee kahaanee
ek safar hai ye zindaganee
ek safar hai ye zindagaanee
kisko pagle tu kehta hai apna
prem kee duniya ka jhootha hai sapna
kisko pagle tu kehta hai apna
prem kee duniya ka jhootha hai sapna
unka phoolon se rishta hee kya
unka phoolon se rishta hee kya
jinkee kismat hee kaanton ke beech palee re
chalee re chalee re meree naav chalee re
na jaane kidhar
na jaane kidhar
aaj meree naav chalee re
chalee re chalee re meree naav chalee re
kal kee baaton ko bhool mere manwa
preet hai dukhon kee mool mere manwa
kal kee baaton ko bhool mere manwa
preet hai dukhon kee mool mere manwa
sapne kisee ke kabhee hote na poore
roz banaaoon phir bhee adhoore
roz banaaoon phir bhee adhoore
beete huye sapnon ka bojha uthha ye
door kaheen door meree naav chalee re
chalee re chalee re meraa naav chalee re
na jaane kidhar
na jaane kidhar
aaj meree naav chalee re
chalee re chalee re meree naav chalee re
