Tum ko paaya hai to jaise khoya hoon
Kehna chaahoon tum se bhi to kya kahoon
Kisi zabaan mein bhi wo lafz hi nahin
Ke jin mein tum ho kya tumhen bataa sakoon
Main agar kahoon tum saa haseen
Kaayenaat mein nahin hai kaheen
Ta’areef yeh bhi to sach hai kuchh bhi nahin

How can an emotion, an achievement, a lacking, a statement, a praise, an expression of being lost, are to be expressed in a few lines? This mukhda of the song in “Om Shanti Om” is a perfect example. It says quite plainly that there are not words to be found in any language to describe you, i.e. the heroine. It is not just her beauty, the hero wants to praise. It is the essence of the person, that he is unable to describe.

In the stanza, her attributes are detailed as shokhiyon, adaayen, zulf, aanchal, roop ki chaandni etc. also dilkashi. But these words are just not enough to say what the hero wants to say. I have seen this film, but cant recall the whole story. Will have to see this once more to refresh the memory.

It had a famous dialogue about “Kaayenaat” which the first incarnation of Shah Rukh Khan is fond of saying in front of a imaginary mike, while enacting a acceptance speech at an award function. Then the next re-incarnation Shah Rukh Khan, born to a superstar, a superstar himself, has total recall and says the same speech word by word, at a real award function in his acceptance speech.

“Itni shiddat se main ne tumhen paane ki koshish kee hai
ke har zarre ne mujhe tum se milaane ki saazish kee hai.
Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kaayenaat,
ussey tum ne milaane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.”

I am trying to think, if there is any other song in hindi films having the word ‘kaayenaat’ in it. Certainly, in old hindi films songs, this is a rare word. The word has become synonym with SRK and this film, it seems. Because I suggested it as a name for a baby, but this was rejected as “it sounds too much like a SRK movie dialogue”.

Some asha’ar about ‘Kaayenaat”:

The song is filmed on Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the extra artist and the movie star. Shah Rukh is trying to woo her in filmy setting, with Shreyas Taplade, aiding with the film studio equipments. Though, being an actor, why she would enjoy such make believe filmy set ‘chai-paani’ event, is unclear.

Shah Rukh Khan has a double role, for the two lives, and Deepika Padukone also has ouble role, 2 lives but different persons. It was said to be a remake of “Karz”, but the story has lots of common things from films like “Madhumati” and “Kudrat”.

Javed Akhtar is the lyricist and music directors are Vishal-Shekhar. This film had very good melodious songs, situational ones. One party song is posted in the blog, celebration of the same award.

But the award goes to Sonu Nigam, for the rendition of this melody, along with Shreya Ghoshal.
