Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 97
Today I bring to you another song which is picturised as a cabaret/club song. The song “Aag Mein Jale Jawani” is sung by Asha Bhosle, penned by Gulshan Bawra and composed by Sonik Omi. The song is from “Umar Qaid” (1975).
This film was directed by Sikander Khanna for producer C K Sobti’s Gautam Pictures. It starred Sunil Dutt, Reena Roy, Vinod Mehra, Moushmi Chatterjee, Asrani, Om Shiv Puri, Kader Khan, Anju Mahendroo, Krishan Dhawan and Jeetendra in Dynamic Appearance.
“Umar Qaid” is a Hindi action-drama built around crime, revenge, mistaken guilt and redemption.
The film follows a sincere customs officer who is wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment (Umar Qaid). In prison, he befriends another inmate whose tragic past is tied to the same crime. Together, they escape, uncover the truth, and attempt to restore justice and dignity to their lives.
The Story
The story centres on Vinod Verma, an honest customs officer living a happy life with his family and in love with Dr. Bharati. His life takes a dark turn when he clashes with a notorious smuggler, KK (Kamalkanth), and his criminal associate Jakha.
To fight the smugglers, a tough but morally conflicted man named Raja is brought into the picture. Raja is deeply devoted to his blind sister, Laxmi. However, tragedy strikes when KK betrays Raja and brutally assaults and kills Laxmi. Enraged, Raja kills KK in revenge.
Unfortunately, circumstances and manipulation lead to Vinod being falsely accused of KK’s murder, and he is sentenced to life imprisonment.
In jail, Vinod meets Raja (who is later imprisoned as well) and another inmate, Akbar. Initially hostile, Vinod and Raja gradually develop mutual respect. Raja, burdened by guilt and a sense of justice, resolves to prove Vinod’s innocence.
The three prisoners eventually escape, though Akbar sacrifices his life to help the others. Outside, Raja begins to atone for his past actions—protecting Vinod’s family and confronting the real villains.
As the truth comes out, Vinod realises Raja is not a villain but a man shaped by tragedy. In the end, Raja surrenders to the law and accepts punishment, while Vinod is reunited with his family and cleared of wrongdoing.

As mentioned above, the song is picturised as a club/cabaret and is lip synced and performed by Reena Roy. We can also see Sunil Dutt seated and enjoying the attention!!
