Mukesh and his Co-Singers –14
I have covered Mukesh’s songs composed by Sharda in my previous post.
I have also tried to cover many aspects of her career, but a few more details remain. A lot can be written about her association with Shankar and the various gossips and stories. But then, what is also known is that Sharda never revolted or reacted to these. She continued her life and career with whatever she came across. As such, a thought ran through my mind that it is better to stick to facts and statistics rather than the personal lives of artists.
We all have our likes and dislikes. I am not particularly fond of Sharda’s voice. But, then in many of her songs there is this unconventional, distinctive childish texture in her voice. In many songs that she sang this was a welcome change and did manage to capture the attention of music lovers. In an era where heroines were evolving into more mature roles and free expressions, such a voice suited their antics on the screen.

“Around the world” (1967), whose full title was “Around the world in eight dollars”, was a P S Pictures production. It was directed by Paachhi. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Rajshree, Ameeta, Mehmood, Pran, Raj Mehra, Achla Sachdev, Vishwa Mehra, Om Prakash, Pachhi etc in it.

“Sapnon Ka Saudaagar”(1968) was produced by B Ananthaswami and directed by Mahesh Kaul for Screen Gems. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Hema Malini, Jayant, Tanuja, Achala Sachdev, David Abraham, Durga Khote, Nadira, Rupesh Kumar, C S Dubey, Satyendra Kapoor etc in it.

The movie had Dev Anand, Vijayanti Mala, Laxmi Chhaya, Prem Chopra, Balraj Sahni, Johnny Walker, Madan Puri, Lalita Pawar, Nana Palsikar, Sulochana Latkar, Achala Sachdev, D. K. Sapru, Jagdish Raj, Rashid Khan, Jankidas, Lata Bose, Mridula Rani etc in it.
