Songs to Tickle Your Memory – 6

The hoof sounds of the returning horses sounded tired and beaten. It was hot and dusty. The sun beat down mercilessly on the sweaty gang members. The lonely tree provided some respite from the blazing heat. Lounging in his hammock tied to it, Mastermind lazily flicked the orangutan walking on his bare arm. The face of Kaalia appeared around the bend in the rocks.

Songs to Tickle Your Memory – 3
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
At the turning of the decade of 1950s, changes, as always, were in the offing. Careers of established stalwarts of the ilk of Anil Biswas and C Ramchandra were on the downward trend. And a new crop of music magicians were becoming visible on the horizon. As the calendar clock reached 1960, two duo teams started to make their presence felt. The elder partner of one of these teams, Kalyan ji Veer ji Shah had already made a debut as a solo music director back in 1958. He made his presence felt with his compositions in two films that year – ‘Post Box 999’ and ‘Samraat Chandragupt’. In 1959, he worked on three films, under his solo direction – ‘O Tera Kya Kehna’, ‘Bedard Zamaana Kya Jaane’ and ‘Ghar Ghar Ki Baat’. In the same year, he also teamed up with his younger sibling, Anand ji, and the duo team of Kalyan ji Anand ji made their first appearance in three films – ‘Satta Bazaar’, ‘Madaari’ and ‘Chandrasena’.

Kitni raahat hai dil toot jaane ke baad
zindagi se mile maut aane ke baad
Aah! the bliss of being free of illusions. As if someone has removed the coloured glasses from my eyes through which the world used to look colourful. The feeling is not always pleasant but it is a honest and truer state to be in. Keeping one's eyes closed so that one is able to avoid the unpleasant things and pretend that all is well, is a self defeating attitude. Once the truth is out in the open and accepted than it is something one faces and deals with in our own way. Out of the clouds of delusions. Only then the correct runway can be found and safe landing in possible.
