“Barkha” (1959) was an AVM productions movie. It was produced by A V Meiyappan and directed by Krishnan Panju. The movie had Jagdeep, Nanda, Mukri, Shobha Khote, David Abraham, Anand Kumar, Leela Chitnis, Mohan Choti, Achala Sachdev, Ulhas etc in it.

Wo door jo nadiya behti hai

Jagdeep and Nanda played lovebirds in “Bhaabhi” (1957). Two years later, they play brother and sister in “Barkha” (1959).
Both these movies had another thing in common, viz lyrics by Rajinder Krishan and music by Chitragupta. Jagdeep had got a song to sing in “Bhaabhi” (1957), namely Chali chali re patang meri chali re. Here in “Barkha” (1959), we find Jagdeep and Nanda singing a bhai-bahan duet as they are travelling in 1950s style, viz on a bullock cart. 🙂

Pyaar kiya nahin jaata ho jaata hai meri jaan

In late 1950s and for much of 1960s, Mehmood and Shubha Khote were paired together as part of extensive and often irritating comic side plot. But Shubha Khote was not always paired with Mehmood. I find it interesting to note that she was paired opposite Jagdeep in “Barkha” (1959). Jagdeep, a natural comic somehow did not seem to have any flair for non comic roles including romantic roles, serious roles etc. As a result, most movies with Jagdeep in non comic roles failed miserably at the box office.

“Bakhaa” (1959) is a south Indian production. It was produced by A V M productions. The movie was directed by Krishnan Panju. The star cast had Anant Kumar.Nanda,Jagdeep ,Leela Chitnis, Shubha khote,David, Mukri, Mohan Choti, Sriranjani, Kusum Thakur, Udayalaxmi, Neelam, Swaroopalaal, Achala Sachdev, Ulhas, Parashuram, Niranjan Sharma etc.
