Oonche parbat gehra saagar sabka bojh uthhaaye

Posted on: August 23, 2011

“Bakhaa” (1959) is a south Indian production. It was produced by A V M productions. The movie was directed by Krishnan Panju. The star cast had Anant Kumar.Nanda,Jagdeep ,Leela Chitnis, Shubha khote,David, Mukri, Mohan Choti, Sriranjani, Kusum Thakur, Udayalaxmi, Neelam, Swaroopalaal, Achala Sachdev, Ulhas, Parashuram, Niranjan Sharma etc.

Here is a lovely song from this movie which is an ode to mother Earth. The picturisation shows Nanda, but the song is lip synced by Sriranjani, who was a superstar in Telugu movies.

Lata is the singer. Rajinder Krishan wrote the lyrics and music is composed by Chitragupta.

The lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra. This is a “new” song to me, which I heard (and watched) for the first time just now.

Song-Oonche parbat gehra saagar sabka bojh uthhaaye (Barkha) (1959) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Chitragupta

Lyrics (Provided by Prakashchandra)

Oonche parbat gehre saagar
sabkaa bojh uthaaye
issi liye to ye dharti
dharti maata kehlaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar
sabkaa bojh uthaaye
issi liye to ye dharti
dharti maata kehlaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar

phoolon ko bojh na samjhe
chaahe jhuk jaaye daali
phoolon ko bojh na samjhe
chaahe jhuk jaaye daali
hogi woh koyee abhaagan
jis maa ki god ho khaali
jis maa ka ho naa betaa
marke bhi gati na paaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar
sabkaa bojh uthaaye
issi liye to ye dharti
dharti maata kehlaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar

dil maata ka hai seepee
beta hai uska moti
dil maata ka hai seepee
beta hai uska moti
maata ki aankhein deepak
beta hai unki jyoti
ye amar pyaar duniya mein
Jug jug se chaltaa aaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar
sabkaa bojh utaaye
issi liye to ye dharti
dharti maata kehlaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar

ek beta bhi thaa aisaa
jo niklaa qaatil maa kaa
ek beta bhi thaa aisaa
jo niklaa qaatil maa kaa
jab waar wo karke bhaagaa
to yoon bola dil maa kaa
mat bhaag main tujhpe waari
tujhe thokar lag na jaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar
sabkaa bojh utaaye
issi liye to ye dharti
dharti maata kehlaaye
oonche parbat gehre saagar

I think in this movie there is a song in several parts by Moh. rafi, “sur badale kaise kaise kismat ki shehnaayi”If it is possible, please Mr.Atul, and there is some time left, please…. Thank you, have a nice day .Greetings from R. Ramdin (By the way, all songs from this movie are excellent)

Rajinder krishan ji ,southindian producers ke bahut pasandeeda writer the, somewhere I have read about this fact and the southindian movie producers sabse pehle, writer and lyricist ke liye RAJINDER KRISHAN ji ko hi lete the, baad mein actor logon ka chayan hota tha aisa likha tha us article mein.

ARUNJI is the better person to write about Rajinder krishnji.

I always think, while listening to this song,” kitne saare great thoughts ko unhone iss gaane ki 3 stanzas mein likhke samet diya hain”

Thanks to rajinder krishnaji for writing such a beautiful song. I haven`t seen the movie, but this song always haunt me.

thanks atulji for the posting

Rajinder Krishan is an underestimated lyricist in Hindi movie music world. He is one of my favourite lyricists of Hindi movies. Even in this blog, he has the second highest number of songs among all lyricists. This shows his enormous contribution in the field of lyrics writing.

If one looks at the list of songs penned by him, there are many all time classic songs that are his creations.

Atul ji,
Indian film industry is notoriously famous for not honouring the real gems.RAJENDRA KRISHNA is one such gem.
When one talks of hindi film lyricists, the names of Sahir and Majrooh come to the lips easily, but not the name of Rajendra krishna !
RAJENDRA KRISHNA was born in Shimla 0n 6-6-1919.From the class 8th onwards he started writing poetry, but did a job as a Clerk in Shimla municipality till 1942.during this period he spent his time in reading best English and Urdu books.
He came to Bombay in 1947 as a script writer and lyricist for Janzeer and Janata. After few more films,he wrote one private song and his luck changed. The song and the singer both became All India favourites and lakhs of records were sold. The song was, ” Suno suno aye duniyawalo,Bapuji ki Amar Kahani”.The singer was Mohd.Rafi.
In1949,he wrote songs for Lahore and Badi Behan which celebrated silver jubilees. He became very famous and the Producers gave him Rs.1000 pm salary and an Austin car as a gift.
His knowledge of Tamil Language helped him go to south, where he was very successful with AVM and others. He did 18 films in a row for AVM.
The music directors with whom he worked,Madan Mohan,C.Ramchandra and hemant Kumar also were popular in south. The combunation worked wonders.
He also worked with almost all M.D s. His range of songs was fabulous.no subject was taboo to him.Be it comedy, tragedy or anything he wrote with ease.he wrote maximum songs for Johnny Walker.
When he died in 1988,he had written songs for 300 films and screenplays for 100 films.
Truly,he was one of the jewels of Hindi Film Songs, but did not get the due recognition !

I entirely agree with you. Despite writing so many songs of diverse nature, Rajindra Krishna did not get as much recognition as Sahir , Majrooh and Shailendra got. I just can’t forget his touching lyrics in JAHAN ARA.(1964).
