“Opera House” (1961) was a B grade movie starring Ajit, B Saroja Devi, K N Singh, Maruti, Niranjan Sharma,Baalam etc. Many of the so called B grade movies of those days are indistinguishable from A grade stuff, except for low budget. And as far as the music of these movies were concerned. The music was invariably A grade.

Party songs/club songs where a female dancer sings and dances became a staple diet of Hindi movies in 1950s. Geeta Dutt was one of the first (if not the first) singer who sang such songs. As for the actors on whom such songs were picturised, there were many, ranging from dancers (Cuckoo, for instance) to heroines (Geeta Bali, for instance). Quite a few of these songs became very popular.

“Zimbo” (1958) was a movie in which a chimp called Pedro had played the second lead. And by all indications, Pedro had stolen the show in this B grade movie produced by Wadia Movietone.

Kishore Kumar made his debut as a solo playback singer in 1948, when he sang a song in “Ziddi”(1948) for Dev Anand. For much of the next two decades or so, Kishore Kumar sang either for himself or for Dev Anand. But it does not mean that he did not get opportunities to sing for other actors.

This is a category of songs that I heard in my younger days for a few times without being aware of any details and then I forgot all about it. Now, more than four decades later, I became aware of this song thanks to its farmaish. When I listened to this son again, it was like being re united with a song that had got separated from me during my childhood.
