Hullo Atuldom

There is a popular movie of the late ’70s, that has had a rather slow journey through the blog. With this post I hope to bring it to the YYIIPPEEEE station.

It began its journey on the blog with its most iconic song. A song that gave its singer -the legend Mohd. Rafi the National Award for best singer as well as that year’s Filmfare award. The song sort of put all doubting Thomas(es) in their place.

The post for the song “Kya Hua Tera Waada, Wo Qasam Wo Iraada“was the 2900th of the blog written by Santosh Ojha.

The next post on the song “Ye Ladka Haaye Allah Kaisa Hai Deewaana” by Rajaji spoke of his experience of how he had seen the movie in 1977 and gave a link to his own blog and what he had written there-in in 2008. (Cannot find that blog now )

The third and fourth songs from this movie came one-after-the other as part of Nahm ji’s series where she presented Rafi saab’s songs in alphabetical order:- “Chaand Mera Dil, Chaandni Ho Tum” for the song beginning with ‘C’ and “Hai Agar Dushman Dushman, Zamaana Gham Nahin” as the song beginning with ‘H’.

Then came this post – “Bachna Ae Haseeno, Lo Main Aa Gaya” – a highly educative post by our Sudhir ji on ‘How a song is born’.

The next came the song “Aa Dil Kya Mehfil Hai Tere Qadmon Mein, a post by yours truly exactly three years back. I had tried to express what I liked about the movie and its maker.

The post for one of the songs in the medley “Mil Gaya Humko Saathi Mil Gaya” was a surprise. It was by our in-house encyclopedia; a biographical write up from a person who is a store house of information.

The last post for this film, was for the song “Hum Ko Yaara Teri Yaari“, as a part of 10-year challenge 2010-2020.

So then these are the eight out of nine songs from ‘Ham Kisi se Kam Nahin’ (1977) that are present in our blog. We are having the ninth and final song today on the 18th remembrance day of its maker Nasir Hussain. This is the third song in the four song medley scene. It is sung by RD Burman, set to tune by RD Burman himself, and written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It has Tariq lip-syncing on screen. The sequence comes to a close with an excellent music piece where we see the two males trying to beat each other in the dance competition which Rishi Kapoor wins as Tariq gives up when he sees Kajal Kiran and Rishi Kapoor together.

Ending this post with a thanks to Nasir Hussain for all the entertainment his films have provided to Hindi film fans.

Song – Ho Tum Kya Jaano, Mohabbat Kya Hai (Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin) (1977) Singer – RD Burman, Lyrics – Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD – RD Burman

Lyrics

Ooooooo ha
ho tum kya jano
mohabbat kya hai
dil ki mehfil sanam
ye mehfil nahi dil hai

ho tum kya jano
mohabbat kya hai
dil ki mehfil sanam
ye mehfil nahi dil hai

suno kehna hamara
amiri hai sitaara
garibi ek aansoo oooo
ye aansoo hai mohabbat
mohabbat zindagi hai
bas itna jaan le tu ooo

ho tum kya jaano
mohabbat kya hai
dil ki mehfil sanam
ye mehfil nahi dil hai
ho tum kya jaano
mohabbat kya hai
dil ki mehfil sanam
ye mehfil nahi dil hai

ऊ ऊ
