This movie had Bharat Bhushan, Pradeep Kumar, Bina Rai, Asha Parekh, Leela Chitnis, Rajendranath, Rehman, Agha etc. This was a Madrasi style movie, but curiously enough, its story was inspired from a Bangla story. It was an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s 1906 Bengali story “Noukadubi”.

Today’s song is the 4th song from the film Ghunghat-1946 to be discussed here. The first 2 songs were posted by Mrs. Nahm ji and then Atul ji discussed the 3rd one. What is so special about this obscure film that 4 songs are discussed here ? Nothing really. It’s just a coincidence. Actually, Rafi’s early songs attracted Nahm ji and I was also eager to listen to the fresh voice of Mohd. Rafi, from his early career.

Nainon se naina milaa ke – Song no. 7
—————————————-
Song no. 7 is once again a duet. I am not yet done with the duets from Rafi excel sheet. I was in two minds whether to have songs with ‘Ankhen’ ‘nigaahen’ and ‘nazaren’ also which match the theme. But the songs that have come my way having the ‘naina’ or ‘nainon’ are so endearing and similar yet with different flavour, that my hands are quite full.

This is the second song of my trio of tribute to Mohammed Rafi sahab on the occassion of his 33rd Death Anniversary.
This song is chosen for its beginning with the alphabet ‘B’. It is a solo song from the obscure film called ‘Ghoonghat”(1946). There is no information on the imdb website about this film.
