The 1953 movie had Nutan and Shammi Kapoor playing the legendary lovers while the same roles wre enacted by Ranjeeta and Shammi Kapoor’s nephew Rishi Kapoor , respectively.

I am aware with a movie called “Kaajal” (1965) and I have discussed a few songs from this movie. It turns out that there was another older movie of the same name that was released in 1948.

“Sitaara” (1955) is an obscure movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Vyjyantimala, and also Begam Para,Helen etc. As is the case with most obscure movies, this movie too has some nice songs in it that deserve to be better known among music lovers.

What a gem of a song ! Ghulam Mohammed at his melodious best. I am sure you will find yourself humming this song over and over after you have heard it once. That is what is happening in my mind as I am putting down the lyrics and preparing this write up, the leading lines just keep playing again and again in my mind – ‘chhodo chhodo ji piyaa mera todo na jiyaa’. What a lovely composition this one is.

I was aware of a movie called “Hanste Zakhm” but not “Hanste Aansoo” . It turns out that this movie called “Hanste Aansoo” (1950) had the “distinction” of becoming the first ever Hindi movie to get an “Adults” certificate for this movie. 🙂
