#the Decade of Fifties –1951 – 1960 #

Today 10th April is the ‘Remembrance Anniversary’ of writer and lyricist Fauq Jami.
Not much information is available about this lyricist and I think he was a forgotten lyricist of his time.
As per information available on some sources on internet Fauq Jami has written songs for three movies i.e. ‘Guzaaraa-1954’, ‘Saawan Ko Aane Do-1979’ and one unreleased movie from the seventies (which we are going to introduced today).

Today we have a 2-part song from the film Guzara-1954.
The film was made by Aina pictures-owned by S.M.Yusuf. The film was produced and directed by S.M.Yusuf himself. he also did a small role in this film- the only film role he ever did in his film career. There were 3 lyricists- Raja Mehdi Ali Khan (5 songs), Fauk Jami (2 songs) and Munir Lucknowi (1 song) for the film’s 8 songs. Music Director was Ghulam Mohammad.

This post is likely the one which has been the most scrambled for. Leap day it is. So much history and folklore around this date, no doubt. But notwithstanding that, it struck us quite late in the day, as to how such a rare occasion be not celebrated, and not represented on our blog. We are all adept at combining celebrations and conjuring up milestones and reasons to post a celebratory article. So how come this leap day phenomena be left by the side. “Guzaara” (1954) is quite an obscure movie by any standards. Few people have heard of this movie. That is true for its songs as well. I became aware of this movie mainly because of the farmaish of a song from this movie.
