“Heera Panna”(1973) was produced and directed by Dev Anand for Navketan Internationa Films Private Limited, Bombay. This “social” movie had Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Dheeraj, Rehman, Jeewan, Paintal, Rakhi (special appearance), Sudhir, Manmohan, Shaam Kumar, Maruti, A K Hangal, Neelam, Sheetal, Dilip Dutt, Kirti Kumar, Mac Mohan, Rajrani, Madhup Sharma, Dhanna, Mohammad Ali, Chhura etc in it.

If remembering important dates is likened to batting in cricket then I must admit that I am a tailender batsman on the lines of B S Chandrashekhar, who found it easier to take wickets than score runs. In his test career, he took 242 test wickets but scored only 167 runs. 🙂

In Hindi movies, the hero is often a small kid in the first reel who then transforms into the grown up hero in the blink of an eye. The kid who plays the role of the young hero shares the same hair style, dress and mannerism that the grown up hero is known for. Thus master Mayur (playing Amitabh Bachchan’s childhood role) would sport the same hairstyle and dress that Amitabh Bachchan was known for, and he would in fact even sing love song for the small girl who would later grow up to become the heroine. 🙂

During 1970s, when I would try to tune radio Ceylon on wednesday night between 8 PM to 9 PM, tuning to the desired station was not as easy as it is for TV stations. There were so many radio stations on the same 25 metre band and getting a clear reception of Radio Ceylon, while avoiding voices of Voice of America, BBC etc was quite an art.
