Bahut door mujhe chale jaana hai

on:In Hindi movies, the hero is often a small kid in the first reel who then transforms into the grown up hero in the blink of an eye. The kid who plays the role of the young hero shares the same hair style, dress and mannerism that the grown up hero is known for. Thus master Mayur (playing Amitabh Bachchan’s childhood role) would sport the same hairstyle and dress that Amitabh Bachchan was known for, and he would in fact even sing love song for the small girl who would later grow up to become the heroine. 🙂
When it came to Dev Saab, his childhood avatar is often played by Master Satyajeet. The movie “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”(1971) readily comes to mind where Master Satyajeet is shown sporting the same dress, hairstyle and mannerism while singing the song that would serve as the family reunion song later, viz the song Phoolon kaa taaron kaa sabkaa kehnaa hai . At one moment, it is Master Mayur that we are watching, and the next moment he morphs into Dev Anand.
I just realised that the two of them shared another thing in common (almost) and that was their birthdays. Master Satyajeet was born on 25 september and Dev Anand was born on 26 september. So it is just like a Hindi movie song. We see Master Satyajeet celebrating his birthday, and the next thing we know, it is the birthday of Dev Saab.
Dev Anand (26 september 1923- 3 december 2011) was a heartthrob of millions from 1950s onwards. He began playing hero opposite the likes of Waheeda Rehman and Nutan, and before we knew, he was playing hero opposite Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi, and later on opposite Tina Munim !
On the occasion of Dev Anand’s birthday, here is a lovely song from “Heera Panna” (1973). This was a Navketan movie which was produced and directed by Dev Anand. The movie had Dev Anand, Zeenat Aman, Rakhi, Paintal, Jeevan, Manmohan, Sheetal, Sudheer, Maruti, A. K. Hangal, Mac Mohan, Rehman, Dev Anand, Dheeraj Kumar etc in it.
This song is a duet which is sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Rakhi and Dev Anand. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Peevesie’s mom.

Lyrics(Provided by Peevesie’s mom)
Bahut door mujhe chale jaana hai
bahut nazdeek mujhe aana hai
teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
bahut door mujhe chale jaana hai
bahut nazdeek mujhe aana hai
teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
kissi ko iss jagah pe nahin aana hai
kissi ko iss jagah se nahin jaana hai
teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
jaane miley ya ma miley
phir aisi tanhaayi
dil ki lagi lene lagi
seene mein angdaayi
ho mujhko chhupa le
dil mein basaa le
dekh bura yeh zamaana aaa
hai ae ae
hmm mm
kissi ko iss jagah pe nahin aana hai
kissi ko iss jagah se nahin jaana hai
ho teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
kya zindagi ee
kat jaayegi ee
b teri yaadon mein
yeh raat bhi dhal jaayegi
kya yoon hi waadon mein
ho armaan nikle
ya jaan nikle
pyaar mera deewaana aa
hai ae ae
hmm hmm
kissi ko iss jagah pe nahin aana hai
kissi ko iss jagah se nahin jaana hai
ho teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
mere badan mein O sajan
jaagi ek chingaari ee ee
ghut jaayegi
jal jaayegi
iss mein duniya saari
iss ko bujha de
shola banaa de
kehta yeh parwaana aa
hai ae ae
hmm hmm hmm
bahut door mujhe chale jaana hai
bahut nazdeek mujhe aana hai
teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
aaj mar jaana hai
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
teri baahon mein mujhe aaj mar jaana hai
