Today’s song is from the film Alakh Niranjan-1940.
This was a bilingual film made in Hindi and Marathi (in Marathi the title was ‘ Gorakhnath ‘). This was made by Arun Pictures, a banner floated and owned by the film’s director Bhal G. Pendharkar. Bhal ji, like V.Shantaram, was trained by the Kala Maharshi Baburao Painter, who employed them in his pioneer film company ‘ The Maharashtra Film Company’, Kolhapur.

The music director was C.Balaji. Name of the Lyricist is not mentioned in HFGK. The cast of the film was Chandrakant, Ranade, Chandraprabha, Miss Leela, Usha, Dinkar Kamanna etc.etc. The story was written by Pendharkar and it was translated by Shri Arun, B.A., for film’s Hindi version.

“Valmiki”(1946) was directed by Bhal Jee Pendharkar for Prabhakar Pictures, Bombay. This pauranik (mythological) movie about the author of Ramayana had Shanta apte, Prithviraj Kapoor, Leela, Baburao Pendharkar, Vinay Kale, Jaishankar, Raj Kapoor, Pratima Devi, Bhimrao Kale etc in it.
