I have posted as many as four songs from “Maayaa” (1961) and all these songs are timeless classics. Now it has been pointed out to me that there are more memorable songs in it. “Anpadh” (1962) is known as a movie that contained a couple of immortal ghazals that earned Madan Mohan the sobriquet of “Ghazal King” from Lata and earned high praise from Naushad who opined that these two ghazals was equal to all the musical creations of Naushad. Coming from Lata and Naushad, that was high praise indeed.

In my bid to clear the backlog of my old farmaishes, here is one song whose farmaish was given more than one year back. This song is from “Suhaagan” (1964). This song is a duet sung by Lata and Manna Dey. Madan Mohan is the music director. Madan Mohan teamed up with Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Rajinder Krishan in most of his movies and on the other hand he rarely worked with the leading names (Shailendra, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir Ludhianvi and Hasrat Jaipuri). But in this movie, he worked with Hasrat Jaipuri. And what superb lyrics Hasrat Jaipuri came up with in this movie !

Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs are some of the most loved songs in Bollywood movies. Sometime ago, I had wondered what I was going to do if I run out of these Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs to post. Well, I have posted over 2500 songs in this blog, and I find that I still have many Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs not yet posted. So I still have lots of ground to cover.
