Today’s song is from a film called Gun Fight aka Bandookbaaz-1960. The film makes a Debut on this Blog.
Funniest part is that the HFGK describes it as a ” Costume film”. Generally, a Costume film is a film in which you see a King, Queen, Vazier or some Historical figures wearing odd, shining and elaborate dresses and who live in big palaces with hundreds of servants who come running after a clap ( a call bell provided to all by God !) of hands. This film is nothing of this sort. All the characters in this film wear normal clothes, live in ordinary houses and lead routine lives. I have seen this film, in the times when such films were in the dying stages. The cast of the film consists of names usually found in a C grade stunt film… Niloufer, Anjum, Moti (Dog), Baagla, Funny Walker, Maqbool, Bilali, Premi, Mohd. Agha, Shaukat, Sharan Asi, Moosa, Mohd. Sandow etc. etc. But it was not a stunt film either.

“Hero No 1” is a movie that has been released thrice, at the gap of three decades. Films of this title have been released in 1939, 1959 and 1997.
The last named movie is not represented in the movie, but the earlier too movies are.
“Hero No 1″(1959) was produced by L G s Lal and directed by Sultan for Jawahar Films, Bombay. this stunt movie had Kamran, Nazi, Niru, Shaam , Habeeb, Leela Gupte, Heera Sawant, Ghani, D Rajkumar, Sattar, Muhammad Ali, Chaandbala, Heera, Shobha, Maqbool, Naresh Chandra, Tuntun, Sheikh etc in it.

In the golden period of Hindi film industry, there were many popular and famous actors (actors include actresses) who were well known to most of the cine goers of their relevant time. Those actors included heroes, heroines, character actors, villains and vamps, comedians, dancers etc. However, there were actors who were not well known to most of the cine goers as most of the time, they would have small roles in films. But even with small roles, some of them have left lasting impressions on the connoisseurs of Hindi films. There was eagerness to know as to who were those actors.
