‘Noor Jahaan’ (1967) was produced under the banner of Zenith Productions with Sheikh Mukhtar being the executive producer. The film was directed by M Sadiq. The star cast included Meena Kumari and Pradeep Kumar in lead roles supported by Rehman, Lalita Pawar, Veena, Nigar Sultana, Wasti, Rajan Haksar, Balam, Mukri, with special appearances of Sohrab Modi, Sheikh Mukhtar and Johny Walker.

Today’s song is a real treat to the Connoisseurs. It is a group song from the film MIRZA SAHIBAN-1947, sung by Malika-E-Tarannum Noorjahan, Zohrabai Ambalawali, Shamshad Begum and chorus. The music was provided by three brothers together- Pt.Amarnath and Husnlal-Bhagatram.

Recently (on 3 august), we were celebrating birth anniversaries of two legends of Hindi cinema, Shakeel Badayuni and Jaidevji. Atulji had posted a few melodious songs sent by contributors with all the information about these personalities, their contributions, movies, etc. As a tribute to Shakeel Badayuni, I was listening to many songs penned by him and finally decided to send the song “O jaane waalon jaa o na…” of Mother India, to pay tribute to SB. While writing the words of this song, I was thinking about another song picturized on the same situation, natural disaster, where people of the village/town are leaving because of the drought condition.
