Recently (on 3 august), we were celebrating birth anniversaries of two legends of Hindi cinema, Shakeel Badayuni and Jaidevji. Atulji had posted a few melodious songs sent by contributors with all the information about these personalities, their contributions, movies, etc. As a tribute to Shakeel Badayuni, I was listening to many songs penned by him and finally decided to send the song “O jaane waalon jaa o na…” of Mother India, to pay tribute to SB. While writing the words of this song, I was thinking about another song picturized on the same situation, natural disaster, where people of the village/town are leaving because of the drought condition.
I tried too hard to remember/recall my memory for this song, but could not succeed until now. I was surprised after remembering the song that it is composed by Jaidev, who shares his birthday anniversary with Shakeel Badayuni.
This “identified” song is “Apne watan mein aaj…..” from movie “Do Boond Paani”. I never got a chance to watch this movie, but watching the video and listening to the song, it feels like all villagers are leaving except Simi, Madhuchanda & Sajjan because there is no water. While the song of Mother India is sung by Nargis on the screen, this one is a background song. Song is penned by Kaifi Azmi and sung by Mukesh with a female voice, identified as a Noor Jehan by some website. Star casts includes Simi Garewal, Jalal Aaga, Maduchanda, Kiran Kumar & Sajjan. Two famous songs, Jaa ri pawaniyaa piyaa ke des jaa and Peetal ki meri gaagri are already posted on the blog. Here is the third song of this movie.
