Most people do not value time as much as they value money. They do not realise that time, unlike money, continues to slip under our fingers irretrievably, every monent of our life. sixty minutes make an hour, and twentyfour such hours make a day. Thirty such days make a month, a couple of months make a season, six such seasons make a year, and with that one year is gone. Like this years continue to slip away. When I look at the statistics for the blog, I find that there have been 13 singers,13 lyricists and 15 music directors who have completed their individual centuries of songs. Among the list of non centurions, I notice four music directors and three lyricists who have 50 + songs to their credits in the blog at present and they are next in line for their individual centuries. But when I look at the list of singers, I find that the singers who are closest to 100 songs mark are in their twenties and thirtees. K L Saigal is the closest to 100 and he is at 34. Next are Usha Mangeshkar, C Ramchandra, Amirbai Karnataki and Meena Kapoor.

Here is a song which must be perhaps the oldest piano song in Hindi movies. This song sees K L Saigal meeting a man (Can anyone tell who he is) and Kanan Devi. He decides that Kanan Devi is going to sing a poem of K L Saigal. Kanan Devi sits on the grand piano and sings this song.

When I was a young kid, I did not like old songs, especially those sung by K L Saigal. With time,as I became more mature (?), I began to tolerate, and subsequently began to appreciate K L Saigal.
